They must be waiting on his price to come down. He was lusted after for a long time it seems and they finally landed him and have a need for him next year.

I found the usage pattern for Bonifacio really odd after we acquired him last summer. I've always liked him as a player, but I don't know if he's truly an everyday player. Still would be a nice guy to have around.

I like this idea. The Dodgers do have a need for a catcher. They might be willing to stick with Gattis at catcher. They also might have interest in BJ since their current group does not include a serviceable centerfielder. How about Gattis plus BJ for Pederson and Ethier/Kemp. With some money coming our way.

I have a bad feeling the current plan is Gattis, BJ and JUp. It is going to be absolutely BRUTAL defensively. The Braves needed an OFer before Heyward was traded. Since Heyward could play CF they only needed someone like Aoki for RF and the OF would have been "fixed". Now they need a CFer, and that is going to be much harder to find.

If Justin is traded they will probably just not even bother fielding an OF unit.

but if gattis hits 30 home runs it won't matter as much. we also need to consider that gattis hasn't had many games at all in the outfield. ever. i guess that supports the opinion that it will be a disaster, but it also lends to the possibility that he could make a significant improvement if he gives his full attention to that job.

30 home runs in an era of specialized defenses will have a greater impact than 30 home runs in days past. something to consider.
