Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Did you know that homosexuality was once considered a mental illness? Did you know that studies consistently link homosexuality with childhood trauma? It's actually amusing to read some of those studies and see how they try to PC that link.
Sometime during the mud drug concert years of the 60s or 70s it was reclassified as no longer a mental illness. By their political allies.

Of course we've seen a more recent version of the same play with gender dysphoria. They're being more careful with it because they still want the whole "we need to provide mental health care to these people as we mutilate them for affirmation" angle.

I would be curious to know what mental conditions are included as illnesses in your data. I remember one psychologist advocating for psychiatric clearance as part of a permit process for owning a gun. When asked what would disqualify someone as not mentally healthy he said "the desire to own a gun."

Funny how that works. Enjoy your data. Watching you apologize for rampant drug use, outdoor ****ting, violent crime, and moral decay is always satisfying.
You're also talking to the dude who confidentially claims that white supremacy is the biggest terror threat in America because the FBI says so

I believe the big 3 are depression, anxiety and substance abuse.

do you have numbers for each of the types of mental illness

Sure. Here are some statistics about mental illness in the United States:

Anxiety disorders: 40 million adults in the United States have an anxiety disorder.
Depression: 17.3 million adults in the United States have had at least one major depressive episode in the past year.
Substance use disorders: 20.7 million adults in the United States have a substance use disorder.
Bipolar disorder: 4.4 million adults in the United States have bipolar disorder.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): 11.0% of children and adolescents aged 4–17 have ADHD.
Schizophrenia: 1.2 million adults in the United States have schizophrenia.
Personality disorders: 15% of adults in the United States have a personality disorder.
Eating disorders: 30 million people in the United States have an eating disorder.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): 8 million adults in the United States have PTSD.
Dementia: 5.8 million adults in the United States have Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia.
It is important to note that these are just estimates. The actual number of people with mental illness may be higher or lower.

I'd imagine it's very hard on liberals living in red states having to deal with all that racism and fascism and bigotry all the time.

I'd be depressed too if my governor wasn't banning gas stoves and red meet to save the planet!

Classic...

"White liberals are more prone to mental health disorders than individuals who identify as conservative or moderates, according to a Pew Research Center survey.

Sixty-two percent of Whites who classify themselves as “very liberal” or “liberal” have been told by a doctor they have a mental health condition, as compared to 26% of conservatives and 20% of moderates, the study found."

Can you imagine being a mentally ill liberal forced to live under tyrannical governors who don't take climate change seriously?

Suicide is the only option

62% of liberals have a mental illness and sadly easily provoked to harm themselves or others, as we continue to see in these mass shootings or just downtown Chicago

If I believed suicide had anything to do with how well run the government of a state was I’d be all over BLs stats.

Unfortunately I don’t believe there’s a shred of correlation

The ai isn't gonna confess to it's role in encouraging a mentally ill liberal from killing himself to save the planet

Anyone else getting concerned that the ai has become nsacpis best friend?

Actually many health outcomes appear to be partly due to state policy, including suicide rates. There is a growing literature on this. This body of research also notes that the dispersal of outcomes is getting wider across states.
