Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

This feels like a problem that has an easy solution that is impossible because of hyper-partisanship. If we invested heavily in under-privileged communities (economically, not racially) to provide tech/trade school education, we’d mitigate a huge labor shortage in this country while also addressing the administrative bloat of higher education. But that would require both sides to come together to solve it and break away from some entrenched positions.

If your position is that the government is powerless to do anything to make these situations better than I have to ask you what the point of having a government is

"What's the point of government if they aren't full prepared for every potential natural disaster that could ever happen"

Tao of Retard

Why do you think this isn't possible for these communities?

You can apprentice with a whole myriad of private outlets (have to accept low wages) to learn on the job.

You don't need an 'educator' to learn things.

Because for years we have treated college as *the* way to change your circumstances and we provide loans for anybody to go to college, regardless of whether it makes sense for the student or not. If I am a high school senior, am I more likely to take the government up on a loan that will let me live “for free” on campus and “pay for” all my supplies, or am I going to struggle through an apprenticeship in a labor-intensive job while paying for my room and board?

College still is this way if you understand that majority of degrees are worthless pieces of paper.

College does great for STEM areas for sure.

People by and large very much do *not* understand that many degrees are worthless pieces of paper. I’m obviously not advocating for getting rid of colleges. I’m advocating for less money to be funneled to them and a portion of that money instead to be funneled toward education in the trades.

You think sending less people to universities is stopped from people on the right??

Money doesn't need to be funneled to the trades to learn the trades is my response.
