Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

what happened last month? did i miss something?

Whenever you posted about some blackouts and toasters...it could have been two months ago idk.

The point is they didn't just pop up solar and wind power projects this month as it infers.

In any event, Bravo Texas.

The wind has been so high lately and plenty of sun here in Texas so it doesn't surprise me that the renewables are working well.

Ah. You've jogged my memory. I believe that was due to Texans overusing their electric dildos.

To your point Texas had the solar and wind infrastructure in place a month ago. But they had six power plants unexpectedly go offline during a heat wave.

But yes, bravo Texas for using renewables to diversify their sources of electricity and reduce their carbon footprint. To be commended.

According to the piece I linked, wind usually dies down during heat waves. I guess this heat wave is a little different in that regard. The sun of course is not likely to be covered by cloud cover during a heat wave.

Always makes me laugh when the lecturing buffoon avoids all other threads

I guess you can't blame him for being a whiny little bitch. When you're so wrong and brazen about it initially its difficult to take your comeuppance.

We're in a heat wave but the wind is still blowing hard. It's been a constant 10-20mph but with much higher wind gusts. It's not giving much relief because it's a hot wind.

at some point you'd think self-reflection is the last resort, and we've gotta be close to that point

We were using so much power because school was in session and we had the hottest May on record. If school was still going we would probably be having issues with this 105 degree heat.

I'm still surprised to have found out that the homicide rate in nonmetro counties is higher than the homicide rate in New York City. That's a hard one to wrap my head around.

Yes 1/100 is a bigger rate than 100,000/10,000,001

And those 100,000 dead people can feel great about being in a "safer" place

Ya gotta love academics

I'm pretty sure non-metro counties have a bigger population collectively than NY City. So a higher homicide rate would also translate to a higher absolute number of homicides.

Btw homicides are on pace for an 11% drop in NY City compared to last year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that non-metro America will have similar success in reducing their's.

Just to confirm, the population of non-metro counties totals 46 million. Quite a bit larger than NY City's population of slightly less than 9 million.
