well it was worded in a pretty convulated way...i couldn't tell

they also had some stuff on assisted suicide but again the wording made it difficult to understand if they regarded greater ease of assisted suicide a move up or down as far as their freedom score goes

Strikingly, every one of them was educated in a blue state.

Every one of them has their primary work affiliation at an institution in a blue state.

Not one was even born in a red state.

It is almost as if we have two countries. One poor and backwards. One advanced.
 
I agree one that has shuttered its city, and another that has more human **** on the sidewalks than electricity seems pretty poor.

But I'm not shocked to learn the academia bubble exercises in self admiration
 
Blue states seem to admire and value academic and scientific achievement.

Red states don't and even seem to denigrate it at times.

It is what it is.

i think you would withdraw your harsh words if you understood the backstory to this thread

but I don't regret starting it

as a matter of fact i've enjoyed the exchange of smack with my interlocutors

the part about missing teeth especially

if people celebrate ignorance and anti-intellectualism and make specious arguments I guess the polite thing to do is to pretend not to notice

i'm not that way...my preferred response is "game on!"

This thread was started in defense of the blue states that have massacred the majority of covid deaths in this country.
 
I think this thread indicates that the blue states should kick the rest of us out of the Union. They're really too good for us, and shouldn't let us hold them back.

Maybe call it a tax cut. Remit a portion of federal taxes paid back to the states as stimulus. It’s not from the rednecks paying for it. Blue states pay plenty of taxes.

actually i think Cato is fairly rigorous and intellectually honest...i take it as a sign of hope whenever sturg cites them
