Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Well I gave you an answer. Obviously not the answer you wanted. I will go back to assuming your questions are rhetorical ones.

You did answer it and are largely correct.

They leave bc the cost of being there is out of control.

Where your answer came up short is why that happens... and the consequences of the socialist utopian policies that lead California to highest poverty state in the country

Oh their policies when it comes to permitting new construction are the worst. It is a crazy extreme form of NIMBYism. And it is extremely unprogressive. There are some signs of a grassroots movement to change that, but I'm not optimistic.

Professional millionaire lecturers don't understand that when people flee ****hole states for freer states, then national representation is impacted

Crazy that a state with as much natural advantage as California could actually have a year where the population decreases. Somehow the Left can even destroy paradise.

I'll bump this little article which has information on what types of people move into California and what types move out.

And I'll add an anecdote. My older son took his first job out of college three years ago. It was in Atlanta. I told him to keep an open mind and try to learn and enjoy a different culture. But he started plotting his return to California almost immediately. After two years he took a new job in San Francisco. Thanks to covid he got a sweet deal on an apartment 10 minutes from work. He skateboards to the office every day. It is not a bad life.

Yea, we are all aware that California has massive issue with wealth inequality. Many of us are fortunate and have the types of jobs that can happen anywhere at high salaries.

Your anecdote doesn’t speak to the issues that California has and what’s driving millions out of the state.

Did you read the article? It is slightly dated. But the people who are leaving are retired people and people with low educational levels. Meanwhile large numbers of newly minted college graduates move in. This migration of young college graduates is equivalent to 50% of the number of new graduates generated by the Cal system. It is mighty generous of other states to educate these young people (in fields like engineering and computer science for which there is high demand) and send them to California.

Highly educated doesn’t mean highly skilled.

Lots of people go to California for the welfare and legal weed while they find themselves.

Because the states who vote blue have a loser mentality who are easy to scare and always look to others to protect them
