SP options

I wonder if the unusual nature of this season makes it easier or more difficult to trade for a top SP or bat?

Think it's more like

Soroka
Fried
Newk/Tomlin
Wright/Matzek
Touki/BP

It's probably getting close to Ian Anderson time.

DOB seems to think Tucker Davidson is next in line for a shot and that Anderson is 4th or 5th and not likely to be used this season, for what that's worth.

Soroka is a brutal loss. It completely changes the entire look of our rotation.

It’s now

Fried
Newk
Wright
Touki
Davidson/Anderson

Maybe we go really hard on the piggy back system

Fried
Wright/Newk
Touki/Tomlin
Anderson/Matzek
Davidson/Weigel

To make room on the roster Soroka goes to IL, and maybe Russin and Schebler get sent down. Seems like the best we could reasonably do given the circumstances.

Tomlin seems like a good option. All he seems to do is get the job done. We need some of that right now. I'm devastated for Soroka. Just a sad moment for a great young dude right before his birthday.

My thoughts change minute-to-minute. Part of me thinks the Braves should go out and grab a veteran, someone to at least help stabilize things a bit while I also think it makes sense to throw the guys out there and let them sink or swim. I'd really like to see what we have in Wiegel and Davidson but this rotation is nothing but a giant question mark: Fried-Newk-Touki-Wright-Davidson/Wiegel.

Soroka is smart enough of a pitcher he can easily give just as much good advice to any youngins.

We can only trade people on the taxi squad this year right? Plus a ptbnl or cash.

I don’t understand why you don’t start Davidson now. If he’s not good enough to play now, why is he worth having? Maybe a fill in for a trade? Weigel is similar but he’s had some people pegging him for the pen.

Muller and Anderson struggled with the new baseball last year.
Anyone know if we are using the same baseball as last year?

Terrible news obviously. Don’t see many good options to help the pitching out. Clearly the other starters are going to be counted on more, but maybe the offense takes over. Winning games 9-8 or something. Similar to what the Twins were doing last year.

Not too sure how quickly he’ll be back on the bench or at the Gwinnett camp to help the other pitchers. You’d have to think he’ll go home to Canada for a while for rehab after surgery (plus he’ll have to quarantine after being in a hospital). Then there’s the issues of international travel from Canada to US and quarantine requirements. I mean I’m sure he can do zoom conferences with the pitching staff, but I’d be very surprised to see him anywhere near the team for the rest of the season, which may only be another week or so.

F it. Go get Degrom. I don't think I've seen a pitcher this good in his prime since Pedro. 101 a few times last night. Reminds me of Hideki Irabu FFS.
