Oh I'm sure the attack on character will be coming.

That's what the police state advocates always do. When someone gets beaten to a pulp or killed, the character assassins come running to justify it.

I mean, he didn't use chemical weapons, just like how having sex with a 13 year old isn't pedophilia.

Pretty sure Hitler gassed more than 72 Jews at a time. I still don't understand why it's worse than any other way to murder people. Feed people to a Lion, no one cares, but God forbid they use chemicals. Assad stood to gain nothing from gassing those people.
