ST - 3/28 - Charlie and the lineup and we head NORTH!

Love Morton but we should cut bait after this season.

I feel certain we will- we have a whole pile of pitchers coming up now- and just need one of about 20 to fill that 5th spot -
I do wanna keep Fried though. And hopefully the plan is to use Charlie’s 20M to get that done.

Fried / Soroka /Wright / Strider / Dodd / Shuster/ Schwell/. Then you’ve got Munoz/Maier/Ritchie /Anderson/ Elder
Etc etc etc

They’ll bring in a high priced vet, they always do. And the writing is on the wall with Fried. He’s as good as gone. I want him to stay but I don’t see it happening.

Wouldn’t Fried actually be a high priced vet though?

Or you guys thinking he’s gonna command DeGrom level- 10 year-incredibly stupid to give to a pitcher- deal and let someone else like the Padres Cubs or Mets make the mistake ?

Vets will take short deals like Morton has done. Where Fried is gonna want 6-8 years at a high AAV

This is Frieds one chance to get paid and he is going to take it. This offseason, we will see him depart in a manner similar to Swanson IMO. I'm positive the Braves have given their number, he has given his and it is obviously a big gap between the two.

I could see us needing to fill 2 rotation spots this coming offseason. Here are some of the notable ones on the market.

Max Scherzer (player option)
Shohei Ohtani - in your dreams
Marcus Stroman
Hyun Jin Ryu
Charlie Morton (if we decline his option, being 1 of the 2 spots we'd have)
Martin Perez
Julio Urias
Noah Syndergaard
Aaron Nola
Lucas Giolitto
Sonny Gray
Blake Snell
Luiz Severino
Kyle Gibson
Alex Cobb

Honestly, I'd be okay with 2 of Gray, Snell, Giolitto....But it would be nice to land Nola

I personally guarantee you that Fried will not leave in free agency this off-season.

Bold take.. lets see how this plays out cotton.

I am 100% confident Fried is our opening day starter the next few opening days barring some shoulder or second tommy john. Otherwise Snit and AA are insane.

I have been optimistic based on Snit's praises and Fried's comments about how much he's fallen in love with The A.

Almost sounds like the comments made in reference to Freeman and/or Swanson....

I'm not saying I don't want him to remain here. But AA has made it abundantly clear, if you don't sign for his number, you will not be a Brave going forward. Nothing personal. Those players have earned the right to get maximum pay. Just won't get it here in Atlanta.

I think what Cy and myself are saying is that Fried will still be here next year, since we control him for one more season after this.
