that would be moving FF to the 4th position, which I am fine with.. but there are other books that say your best hitter should hit 3rd because of xtra ABs per year. not sure, I think along the same lines.. but I am not in charge either..

"The Book" was written after doing thousands of simulations of different lineup combinations. While it's true the 3rd batter gets more ABs than the 4th batter, he comes to the plate so often with 2 outs and nobody on base (after the 1-2 batters both get out leading off the game), that the importance of the 4th hitter becomes greater.

Your 2nd hitter is supposed to be your overall best hitter, especially if you stick a good OBP guy in the 9th slot.

Good for him. I think it's a little telling that he's being left in longer than most everyone in spite of the sheer volume of players in camp. They're wanting to get him as many ABs as they can.

It's early and I can't speak for his defense, but his swing really does look more efficient.

That's pretty incredible. We'd had some fast guys come through the organization, but that's one of the fastest. It reminded me of the Reds series two years ago where Billy Hamilton scored from first on a long single. Insane.

Unusual, not the way Fredi handles things. "Keep em in there, build some tolerance, play through it, see what they got, toughen up and I get scared as hell everytime I look at third base thinking...who is that guy and what the hell is he doing out there."
