Swanson getting the call...

Wouldn't calling him up now and calling him up opening day next year effect his clock the same? Will someone correct me if I'm wrong but to gain an extra year he'd have to be in the minors to start next year.

Correct. The smart move would have been to not call him up until sometime next year AFTER the start of the season.

Yea, if the plan was to start Dansby to start 2017 in the new ballpark, then they may as well bring him up now to get some experience, as these last 43 games of 2016 won't affect his service time with us at all.

They obviously decided he would at least start next year with the team, so they figured might as well do it now. Some will disagree, but it isn't moronic.

It doesn't matter that they called him up now. He's still under control until 2022. If they had waited until opening day next year to call him up he would be under control until.....drum roll.....2022.

Many were hoping the Braves would wait at least until May 2017 to call up Swanson, especially since his performance heretofore has not demanded promotion.

This FO has made is perfectly clear they couldn't care less about service time. I don't agree with this philosophy at all, but it is their stance.

Let's get it.

Yeah its not like he loses a year of service by coming up now.

Kris Bryant of the Cubs was called up after a few months and went to Super 2 status.
