Tebow!

Muts signed tebow. 7 pages for nothing. I am pissed now. All that reading wasted.

**hopefully now all our star OF prospects will get their ABs.

Jk. Lighten up

Whew... We dodged a huge one. Tebow would've brought the whole origination down. Hello last place, mets

The thing is, if he has a .500 OPS for the 2016 season, the defenders will say it's a SSS and they would be right. If he has a .750 OPS for the 2016 season, the critics will say it's a SSS and they would be right. Anything he does this season is a SSS. And it's coming in a season where it MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE TO THE TEAM. The only baseball reason to have Swanson at the ML level right now is that you think learning on the job for 45 games far outweighs all the negatives associated with bringing him up. OTOH, there are several non-baseball reasons to bring him up all aligned with marketing which is a short sighted need, not a long term need.

And to say he's facing good pitchers by citing a LH Gonzalez who's having an off season of 4.4 era with a .265 RH BAA/.760 OPS and a hurt Strasburg is stretching the defense.

They are sitting him against the better pitchers. At least so far. So, even with the SSS of his stats, you still have to consider that whatever the stats, they aren't true if he's not facing the toughest pitching on a routine basis. It's like being a platoon player only worse.

The stats are what they are. Right now he's hitting well. Also the Braves are likely to promote Albies at some time next year. It makes business sense to not have Albies and Swanson hitting FA at the same time. That's what would of happened if the Braves had waited. It is important for Swanson to get his feet wet and learn at the MLB level. That is what this is doing and I feel he's doing a great job at that. There isn't going to be a magical time where every prospect is ready and we call them all up at the same time.

Man, can't believe we passed on the opportunity to make millions upon millions of dollars and the great buzz this would've created for the organization. Would've brought all the true fans out and made us the envy of the MLB. Smh.

Maybe we didn't pass, but tebow just chose the mets

Eh, our hyperbolic straw man is better.

I just don't see the whole Swanson/Albies at the same time argument. This is a rebuilding team which means if everything goes like the FO would like 2017 will see several first time players, not just Albies but maybe Ruiz, Peterson, Newcomb, Minter, etc. I guess the line of thinking is that both will be superstars, both will require a lot of money eventually and you don't want two MI hitting their 5th year arby both getting $15M per year. But that happening is likely extremely slim.

I think you bring players up when they are ready AND when it best helps the controlling team.

If the Braves wanted to start next season with Swanson at SS and Albies at 2B, and those guys earned it in ST, then fine. I would have no problem with that. That would allow the Braves to NOT have to protect either on the 40 man until the end of ST, it would not start their clocks until 2017 and it would give you a marketing hook for the great unwashed. In the mean time, the Braves would have an extra space on the 40 man to protect their own players, sign "flyer" free agents, utilize the rule 5 and spend all spring evaluating the occupants of those 40 man spaces before having to clear space for Swanson and/or Albies.

That approach would have also allowed Swanson to continue to play with Albies, establishing that ss/2B teamwork and would also have allowed Swanson to refine his offensive game.
