Why would you want to exclude death by suicide?

In the event, even if you did it is over 10,000 per year, a smidge higher than toasters.

Btw suicide is for the most part an impulsive thing. If a suicidal person does not have a readily available way to kill himself/herself the impulse will pass. Guns make it all too easy to yield to such a moment.

Poisoning is the most common way for women

Looks like suicides went up after guns were taken away. Deaths of despair! I fear for my gun-loving friends.

Btw looks like "guns being taken away" in 1996 did not eliminate gun deaths (they remained at levels about two thirds the pre 1996 level). So maybe not ALL guns were "taken away." Whatever happened in 1996 did have some effects though. So maybe Aussies were "oppressed" by the new gun laws but fewer of them died due to guns. Competing interests. A policy choice weighing those competing interests. Imagine if we did something "like" whatever the Aussies did in 1996 and cut gun deaths by a third. Over time it looks more like a 50% reduction. Even better. Those oppressive Aussies!

Abbott has been on a crusade to get as many guns in Texas as possible.

he was even embarrassed that Texas was #2 in gun ownership behind LIBERAL HELL HOLE CALIFORNIA.

He’s signed bills to make getting a gun easy peasy.

but yeah shame on Beto for being there to ruin his photo op.
