The 2018 Midterms

I imagine there will be something of a mass exodus from Trump's cabinet if Democrats flip the House. There are several folks--most notably Pruitt, Zinke, Ross, Carson, maybe even DeVos, who aren't likely to stay viable in an environment where the people responsible for oversight are demanding accountability.

one thing to keep in mind is there is an obscure 1927 law that give 3 Congressional Committees the right to compel the IRS to turn over any tax return...one of those is House Ways and Means

Gillum doesn't have a Super PAC. Beto doesn't have a Super PAC. Conor Lamb didn't have a Super PAC when he won. Ocasio-Cortez didn't have a Super PAC when she won.

Democrat primary voters are sending a clear message: No more Super PACs.

Super Delegates too !!!

I’ve said before and will repeat: I would rather see Democrats run races based around meaningful progressive reforms, even if they lose, than see another generation of tepid housecat liberal bull****.

There are a lot of state- and local-level Democrats running on strong criminal justice reform platforms—ending cash bail, drug law reform, sentencing reform—and I am all in.

Andrew Gillum will be the next Governor of Florida and will have won on this platform:

✅ Medicare For All
✅ Legalize marijuana and bail reform
✅ Taxing the rich and large corporations
✅ Transition off fossil fuels
✅ Abolish ICE
✅ Taking on the NRA

............................................

(D) turnout was highest in Florida primary history

This is the thing. Stop trying to convert Trump voters with arguments about civility. Start converting non-voters into voters by speaking to things that matter to them.

Voter registration and voter engagement is the key.
The issues have been there.

I saw one tweet saying a voter as swayed when he/she " ... saw Gillum in a high school auditorium. Would have had to donate $50-100 to hear Gwen Graham."
I like her, I've met her father numerous times and truly expected her to get the nomination.

Her father as head of Senate Intel Committee warned against claims of WMD. That is who she comes from --- she has pledged her support to Gillum

Since Jacksonville,Orlando and Parkland I would think taking on the NRA resounded well, as well

would you agree ?

This abolish ICE thing that has sprung up as part of the platform of the left is pretty kooky and is eventually going to hurt the whole Democratic Party.

With all due respect

I am tired of mainstream (R) opining on what will and won't hurt (D).
And, even tireder of "centrist" (D) listening or even considering what (R) think.

As an example I am sure Gwen Graham agreed with your observation

with respect to Gwen Graham, to me it is not an irrelevant thing to note that she would have stood a much better chance of winning in November than Andrew Gillum. I just put that out there as an observation. Hope my Florida friends at the left end of the spectrum enjoy governor DeSantis as much as they've enjoyed governor Scott.

I was thinking this when I saw the Gillum win. He's a great story and probably a better option than a lot of people that will be elected this year. But that ICE position is both irresponsible and out of touch.

also an issue that is not really under the jurisdiction of the office he is running for...but hey the city of Berkeley has been declared a nuclear free zone by its city council...so why not
