The Coronavirus, not the beer

So this virologist that won the Nobel prize doesn't know how mutations occur?

I'm not going to say he is ignorant of this. But I believe I'm correct in saying that mutations arise randomly during replication. The process that drives the emergence of mutations is the same with and without vaccines.

Some variants may develop that are more resistant to a particular vaccine. If that vaccine didn't exist we would not be aware of this. It would be just another variant. But if a vaccine exists that particular variant will get more attention.

I have no idea if this guy knows what he's talking about. I just find someone that opposes popular belief interesting. He has accolades so I give him the benefit of the doubt. He's very anti-mass vaccine

Robert Malone, inventor of mRNA technology, has some interesting takes as well.

But we aren't supposed to listen to him.

If the hospitalization rate is nonexistent, why a booster?

Because the vaccine only helps you for the first 2-4 months and it robs your body of the ability to naturally defeat the full virus and not just the spike protein.

If you took the boosters away and re-did this chart six months from now it would look a lot different.

Hopefully they have a winning season. I could see the vaccine getting the blame if they don't do well.

Most likely because they've decided a booster is safe and there have been breakthrough infections. I'm sure that sweet, sweet, government cash helps too.

It may also be relevant that the pharma companies weren't trying to come up with the perfect vaccines, they were rushing to come up with a safe vaccine that was effective. Pfizer at least seems to have succeeded. Maybe we'll see better vaccines in the future.

Alternatively they could give bonuses to the vaccinated employees. Cold hard cash.

May work, but may not... Pearl River resort (golden moon and silver star casinos) has offered $100 for it. They still have a terrible vaccination rate.

PRR is local (Philadelphia, ms) BTW

With cash incentives, you won't necessarily get to 100%. But the idea is to drive that number up to get to herd immunity. While I appreciate what individual companies and organizations are trying to do, there is a big free rider problem.

What is that number and how is it calculated?

It isn't precisely known until you get there. The idea is to have the number of cases be at a low level and stay there because there aren't large numbers of new people to be infected.

But just vaccinations though to get to that number?

First pack of cigarettes I bought was 22 cents.
In 1992 about $2.00.
Today they go $5.00 +

Tables in restaurants and automobiles were equipped with ash trsys as recently as 2000.

$200 a month should make some think. Like they did early '90s over taxes to cigarettes.
Tried and true method

I think the idea with viruses is that they will mutate (like you mentioned), but in a mass vaccination state only the most transmissible that are immune to the vaccine will continue to spread. This is why the hopes of zero cases is a fantasy.

However, what’s misleading is that more transmissible =/= more dangerous. We aren’t engineering a worse situation with vaccines. That’s just straight up fear mongering.

Everyone get (all) of your vaccines
