I think the idea with viruses is that they will mutate (like you mentioned), but in a mass vaccination state only the most transmissible that are immune to the vaccine will continue to spread. This is why the hopes of zero cases is a fantasy.

However, what’s misleading is that more transmissible =/= more dangerous. We aren’t engineering a worse situation with vaccines. That’s just straight up fear mongering.

That's right. With the vaccines, only a particular subset of mutations will get to propagate themselves. Which I believe is a benefit of having many people vaccinated. Many mutations (some harmful some not) will get knocked out by the vaccines. Some will not. Which is not an indictment of the vaccines. It just means they aren't a 100% silver bullet. We should not let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

The only hospital in my county is sending people elsewhere because all of the beds are full. They have extra beds lining the hallways. ER visits are happening in the hallways. Deaths may be down, but hospitalizations are still a problem.
