True. And nothing was proven when poorly chosen one touted it as a game changer. It was an incredibly irresponsible thing to do.
Doctors from around the world felt otherwise and it showed in their willingness to prescribe it. Unless of course your question the ethics or intelligence of those doctors?

2) people have been taking HDQ at home. I wonder how many have died. It kills a certain percentage of people who take it.

As I said then, anecdotal evidence is not proof. It's anecdotal.
For example, anecdotal evidence, I watch Critical Role, and assume everyone who plays Dungeons and Dragons is a moderate to very attractive voice actor.

The account from Rita Wilson was that it hit her almost as hard as the virus itself, but then she recovered about a week later. Vaguely promising?
Trying it and every other anti-viral was certainly part of finding an optimal treatment, basic trial and error, but assuming that it was gonna be THE drug seems as fantastical now as it did then. Trump tried to pull an inside straight. For him, talking the drug up was a gamble to save himself. It had nothing to do with saving lives.
I'd bet a month's salary that Fauci and others told him not to oversell the drug, that there was still a lot left to learn, but he ignored them. It was actually brilliant on his part. It injected himself into the techy side and made it look like he was busy concocting a cure, when the reality was he just heard a sliver of hope and made it sound like his own. This is why I think he's more evil genius than racist uncle.

Seeing Pastors and churches at odds with the police is satisfying for me. Should have used the taser on him he was walking away and that bible could have been used as a weapon.

so, talked to my primary care doctor today
wants me to come in to get tested for antibodies for covid
was sick mid march
didn't have any covid tests to find out for sure (literately was around the exact same time the president was standing just up the road saying all who want a test can get a test)
shockingly, we can't go do the antibody test right now
cause there are none of those tests
i guess you elect a stupid game show host, you win stupid prizes though and this is what happens
anyway

Why does he think that is a big deal? It's only logical that it was spreading faster than Trump pretended and stopping a few Chinese nothing while Americans from China were flying home everyday and others were coming to the U.S. via Europe.
Its a big deal because it indicates wider spread and lower fatality rates.
Its actually a HUGE deal.
What this also does is increase the death count for those that like to push that kind of thing.
But, I dont expect you to give credence why stopping new infections was essential.
