The Coronavirus, not the beer

Unemployment Rates

Sweden 7.5 in Jan 9.8 in June

FINLAND 7.2 in Jan 7.9 in June

Norway 3.7 in Jan 4.6 in June

Denmark 3.7 in Jan 5.6 in May (June not yet available)

So Sweden got 30% worse

Finland got 10% worse

Norway got 24% worse

Denmark got 51% worse

Average decline is 29%

Sweden has extremely well compared to its Scandinavian neighbors

Highest unemployment rate...check

Largest increase in unemployment rate...check

Highest per capita deaths...double check

I have to commend all these nations for doing this for something that is fake just to get trump out of office

Good global effort of Marxism to throw the trash out

Texas has been one of the states where the mortality date and the covid-19 deaths data have diverged by a lot. This should bring the covid-19 data into closer alignment with the mortality data.

Looking forward to the new round of fevered conspiracy theorizing this is gonna trigger.

In terms of death rate per capita... 11 of the 12 worst states were under D leadership. The lone Republican was Marlyand, coming in at number 11.

Just devastating policies from the most pro-lockdown, fear porn states.

That's a very interesting observation.

I have a couple to share in a similar spirit. Nine of the ten states with the lowest life expectancy have GOP governors. Working backwards from the lowest we have

1. West Virginia
2. Mississippi
3. Kentucky (a Democratic gov but certainly a very red state)
4. Alabama
5. Arkansas
6. Oklahoma
7. Tennessee
8. Louisiana
9. Ohio
10. South Carolina

Do I infer from this that GOP governors make people die sooner. No that would be dumb.

Another one. Per capita income. Starting from last and working backward:

1. West Virginia
2. Mississippi
3. Arkansas
4. New Mexico (Dem governor)
5. Louisiana (Dem governor but a red state)
6. Alabama
7. Kentucky (see Louisiana)
8. Oklahoma
9. South Carolina
10. Tennessee

Do I conclude from this that having mostly GOP elected officials makes a state poor. No. That would also be dumb.

But do carry on by all means.

Oh weird, earlier you were talking about death rates in Sweden, inferring it might be a failure in policy.

I brought up how it's managed to have a better outcome than the heroic leadership of Cuomo's state.

Crickets.

That's why I compared Sweden to a similar group of countries. I'm sorry you cant grasp this idea.

Relatedly, that's kind of the point of my parable about the alligator. Florida and NY are different. One had a yuge advantage. Of time to prepare. And yet...

Is it a policy failure from Sweden?

If so, is it a policy failure of US states that are tragically killing our citizens at a much higher rate then than their R counterparts?

Wow. It feel like you are taking your obtuseness to an entirely new level.

I'm not comparing Sweden to New York.

I'm comparing American States to American states

I didn't mention Sweden in my post that outlined the worst offenders of this country... that post seemed to have struck a nerve

Fair enough. Democratic governors equal worse covid outcomes. GOP governors equal shorter lives and less income.

I'm trying to reconcile how Sweden is to blame for bad outcomes relative to its peers in its covid response, but New York and other states aren't.

Your deflection about life expectancy and income is completely irrelevant as we are talking about policies to best manage covid. But I completely understand your desire to deflect
