The Coronavirus, not the beer

One might wonder if NY approach is actually making a difference? Where is the evidence that it is making any difference at all?
Florida having more than twice as many deaths since the end of April is imo due mostly to the different approaches the two states have taken...and i believe florida undercounts more which would imply that the difference in excess deaths since the end of april is even more pronounced

Their hospitalizations and deaths are similar during the 2nd wave.

But their approaches are WILDLY different.

A look at hospitalizations.

1. You don't get to magically take out the horrific results.of forcing positive patients into nursing homes. Sorry

2. You are still wrong. The last two months show NY overtaking FL in deaths once again. That is despite their draconian measures and NYC already having been massacred in the spring.

But if they are getting equal results at best why on earth are you still supportive of these government measures?

its interesting that NY has been hospitalizing more people for covid the last few weeks than florida

and more people have been dying of covid in Florida during the same period...there may be some lags involved...and there may be some changes and differences in the protocols for who gets admitted

2. The last two months show NY overtaking FL in deaths once again.

October deaths: Florida 4,280 NY 284
November deaths: Florida 1,836 NY 992
December deaths: Florida 1,406 NY 1,052

and it's a lot colder here right now than in Florida...something is allowing us to hold down deaths in spite of more people spending more time indoors

“Crede beat COVID-19 but it came at a significant cost: his big toe on his left foot as well as his right foot and lower leg had to be amputated,” Dawn McCrobie, who organized the GoFundMe effort for Bailey, wrote Dec. 7.

I think I'll get that flu shot this year.

There's those agenda stats again...

Per million:

Florida: 32.78
New York: 32.89

you'll have to tell me what population numbers you are using

going by the 2019 numbers in wiki (21.478 million in florida and 19.454 million for NY), i'm getting a slightly higher death rate for florida (33.6 vs 32.8)

I'm using 21.99 and 19.94 respectively.

Even if yours are right (i quickly googled), the point remains the same. The difference in outcome is nearly identical (not factoring the unprecedented failure of NY in the spring). And NY hospitalization indicate it getting it worse, not better

might want to get a new calculator

those numbers produce deaths per million of 32.8 for Florida and 32.0 for NY in the past 7 days

Sigh. This is what you do when you don't want to discuss the point (same outcomes)

Florida - 721 deaths, 21,993,000 population. Deaths per million = 32.783

New York - 639 deaths, 194,000,000 population. Deaths per million = 32.938

WHATEVER the numbers are you using semantics. You are fully supportive of New York's tyranny while their outcomes are identical (ignoring the spring).

I ask again, at what point do you reassess?

im sighing too

in post 14272 you give me 19.94 as NY's population

i realize the 194,000,000 you have above is a typo

but if we use 19.94 the deaths per million is 32.0

will be happy to spring for a new calculator
