The same capitalism that will create a vaccine and pick the worlds economy back up

You can see it now for the 2020 election. Graphs showing the growth in wealth disparity. They'll conveniently ignore asset pri e growth under Obama as well as how we closed all small business for no reason during this 'pandemic'.

this model boasts one of the better track records...from their website: We present an intuitive model that builds machine learning techniques on top of a classic infectious disease model to make COVID-19 infections and deaths projections for the US, all 50 US states, and more than 60 countries. The countries our projections cover encompass 6.3 billion people and account for over 99% of all global COVID-19 deaths.

I find it a bit implausible that the reproductive rate essentially settles at 1 for several months. But that is the projection

I'm curious. Have you been voluntarily using a mask.

If you use 5% for NY and NJ and 30% for CA, FL, and TX, here's your deaths per million using worldometers.com current totals:

NY - 1587
NJ - 1324
TX - 69
CA - 126
FL - 137

ETA... Illinois' death total increased 0.8% today from yesterday, so I have a hard time seeing less than 5% increase

So many cheered on a massive expansion of the government.

Whiplash effect will result wanting less of it in our lives moving forward.

Yep. Moves like this create a public less willing to take other orders like masks seriously

I'm curious. Have you been voluntarily using a mask.

I wear them when I go to grocery stores exclusively to make others around me feel more comfortable.

I went white water rafting this weekend and the tour group said state law required us to wear masks on the 45 minute bus ride to the drop off point.

After 5 min everyone pulled them off. Same on the way back. When we got back the tour guides said "if yall could just put them on when we exit the bus so our bosses think we did our job"

Nobody thinks this stuff matters. The only people who do are the ones who are too scared to leave their house anyway.

It probably is not something that makes a big difference. But 45 minute bus ride, I probably would have erred on the side of caution. Was it a half empty bus?

Funny thing was... they wouldnt let us serve our water from the water cooler... but they took us out on one of the fastest rivers in the country with multiple level 5 Rapids and acknowledging that several people drown every year.

But we couldnt refill our water.

It was all so stupid and the company knew it too but it's what they had to do open.

They also told me they weren't gonna make a profit this year but are opening in order to reduce their losses. There is a max of 6 people per raft (used to be 10) which required more guides for extra rafts. They could only put 16 on a bus which required two extra buses. They had to hire additional staff to individually package all the lunch items, etc.

Same thing with restaurants. We went to get lunch at an outdoor place. Our group was 7. But, only 6 at one table allowed. So we had to split our group and take one of the other limited tables. I literally watched people who were waiting just leave bc there were no tables... but they weren't at near capacity.

Even as we reopen, these business cant sustain being handcuffed like this. They are having to start paying staff and operating costs like normal, but the government is limiting how much revenue they can take in.

That simply doesnt work.

But man was it a fun time and a nice break from the shutin back home
