The Coronavirus, not the beer

"We are not prepared for a pandemic. Trump has rolled back progress President Obama and I made to strengthen global health security. We need leadership that builds public trust, focuses on real threats, and mobilizes the world to stop outbreaks before they reach our shores."

Joe Biden October 25th 2019

"There may and likely will come a time in which we have both an airborne disease that is deadly. And in order for us to deal with that effectively, we have to put in place an infrastructure — not just here at home, but globally — that allows us to see it quickly, isolate it quickly, respond to it quickly. And it also requires us to continue the same path of basic research that is being done here at NIH that [Dr.] Nancy [Sullivan] is a great example of. So that if and when a new strain of flu, like the Spanish flu, crops up five years from now or a decade from now, we’ve made the investment and we’re further along to be able to catch it. It is a smart investment for us to make. It’s not just insurance; it is knowing that down the road we’re going to continue to have problems like this — particularly in a globalized world where you move from one side of the world to the other in a day."

"So this is important now …"

I don't know what's going on in France, but ****'s going to get scary there. I guess again it's the issue with Europe and it being all pretty tightly packed. Which is why the less populated places seem to be doing better like Scandinavia.

Really rough to see.

There's something odd going on there. Like I feel like there must be businesses not doing their job.

I dunno, I feel like it's only a matter of time til I get it at this point. Watching the trends around me we're in some bad ****. All it takes is another Massachusetts outbreak and we're done.

I'm really surprised I haven't gotten it. I was at Marci Gras where it was a huge outbreak, there was an outbreak at work, there was an outbreak at my church, and several family members have had it. I wonder if I was just asymptotic. Oh, and my wife's work place (4 workers) had 2 catch it.

Yeah I'm hoping for the best, I think I may have been asymptomatic because the **** that happened before the lockdowns in NH were insane. People from Boston which was an epicenter just came up to my neck of the woods to stay. I distinctly remember people coughing and sneezing all around me. One lady was "freaking" out about me touching her cup while her son was coughing every minute.

My family started purposely hugging and kissing each to a ****ing extreme just to "own the libs" after this virus started. Got to the point I had to tell them they were going to hit punched if they came within 5 feet of me. This wasnt normal family ****. People I normally would shake hands with would sneak up on me and bear hug me and start kissing me on the cheek and ****. Like not cool without a virus, very much worse with the virus. Like people from 6 foot 5 grown men to 80 year old women.

And I thought France was having a problem... check out Switzerland. They reported 17,440 cases today. This is 2,028 per million. 2,028 per million in US would be 669,240.
