The Coronavirus, not the beer

That’s fine if you feel that way. I disagree (in what world would a vaccine be announce and distributed on his word alone). Don’t really care all that much to debate. It was a stupid comment for her to make.

i agree

but in the scenario of the question it was being talked about that "trump approved" vaccine

if scientists come out and say it's safe, i'll be the first in line.

had this ****ty virus once and it sucked hardcore. don't want it again

cheers

I had it myself very early on in the pandemic when there was a lot of uncertainty. I never had trouble breathing and the fevers were mild, but I had a fatigue so strong that last two weeks. I had a break down one afternoon from the frustration.

All that’s to say is today was a freaking great day.

Markets are pretty efficient and I imagine this has already been processed. But companies that manufacture deep freezers are going to be busy with the need to store these vaccines at very low temperatures.

Remember when Biden was campaigning and he said if elected he would enact a national mask mandate? At the time I scoffed noting the President doesn't have the power to do that. Well, he's released details about the mask mandate. Biden has said he'll be working with governors and mayors to enact mask mandates. As a Vox article said, it's not as much a mask mandate as a mask suggestion.

For the record, I think people should be wearing masks in public but it is such a difficult thing to mandate. Public education and working with businesses to require masks on their property would likely be far more effective.

the only direct authority the president has is to mandate it on federal property...the rest is persuasion, which includes consistent modeling of the right behavior

He has some ability to influence states with control over money or federal agencies dealing with states. But it is ultimately persuasion. He can't mandate masks which is why I found it absurd he was saying he would institute a nationwide mask mandate.
