The Coronavirus, not the beer

Local school boards should do what they can to reasonably accommodate the teacher's concerns about ventilation and other safety issues. If after they have done this, the teachers unions still refuse to allow the teachers to return to work, treat it as a strike and stop paying them. I think the difficult part is evaluating how legitimate these concerns about safety are. The details matter and will vary from district to district. Not all the teachers unions are being equally reasonable/unreasonable about this. Most seem to be working in good faith. I have some doubts about a few, notably Chicago.

In my backyard they jumped the line to get vaccinated... then claimed they still won't go back til every kid is vaccinated. They are not interested in logic or "science"

They are interested in another year of full time remote work at same pay

I do some remote teaching. It is more work.

My guess is the past year has been more work for over 90% of teachers.

Mom has developed a slight cough and is tired

Thankfully no fever or anything as of now and hopefully stays that way.

I fear the result if she has it as bad as I did in March last year

You might be surprised. My step mom knocked it out and shes as frail as frail gets.

Yeah, I know the numbers etc

But her age and medical history it is beyond worrisome to say the least. She’s a fighter though and already talking about having antibodies etc

I’ll pass it a long to get

But to say she isn’t a drinker is an understatement lol

I have a lot of teacher friends in this area. They all have said remote work was hard to set up but now is basically autopilot. Plus they dont have to grade as much or teach as long.

All but one of them have admitted that they prefer to stay remote for as long as they're allowed bc they can teach from anywhere and they don't have to do with commuting or annoying kids. None of them are concerned a out their health (they are all late 20s or early 30s)

The one is quitting and going into home school teaching and moving to Greenville SC

It’s because of the absolute ineptitude of northeast democrat states that we had the lockdowns that we’ve seen. Inflated death totals at a time where it was easy to be persuaded.

Cuomo and all his clowns in his administration should be sent to jail.

Democrats are absolute disasters for their constituency. Desantis is a national hero.
