The Coronavirus, not the beer

I think I'm done with this q and a session.

You asked a question. I answered it. Being fat is a choice for the vast majority of people.

That is an assumption, and you have absolutely no proof to back it up. All the evidence supports that the people you are talking about are a smaller segment of the obese population. But I do appreciate you explaining your situation.

The lazy part if allowing yourself to get fat. Thats youre right and more power to you.

The selfish part is demanding society to cater to you choices. The entire world shut down in order to protect fat people from catching the scary virus

People want to crucify a perfectly healthy individual when they don’t want to wear a mask despite no evidence that masks prevent the spread of a virus in asymptomatic hosts.

But for some reason saying that fat people are causing the majority of the deaths and therefore crucifying them for their lifestyle is out of bounds.

It makes no sense.

When you remove culpability from the individual you destroy them.

What do you want them to do? Screaming about how they are just lazy and selfish (same **** most people say about depression and suicide, by the way) does absolutely no good. Recognizing that there are challenges that are having an effect on the situation, acknowledging those challenges, and addressing those challenges, makes it possible for the individual to be able to do the rest. It is the same thing as taking medicine for depression. I struggled far too long thinking it was just a matter of being in the right mental place, and that I could work myself out of it. But there was another issue at play that I had no control over. When that was addressed with medication, I was better able to do the other things that help. This is the same for people struggling with obesity. If you really cared about them being a burden on you and all that other stuff you mentioned, then you would support the efforts that are ongoing to put these people in the best possible situation to overcome it. This is not achieved by calling them lazy, selfish, or losers. It is not accurate, and, worse for the topic at hand, it is not helpful.

Forgive some of us for not having the stomach to crucify a person (let alone a whole segment of our population) to stop someone else from having to put on a mask before they go into a store.

Celebrating fatness doesn't help either. Stop telling people its healthy or beautiful or whatever. We don't do that for cigarettes or alcohol but we do for fat people. It makes no sense

I personally would rather help them so that when this happens again, it is not such a big issue. *shrug* That's just me.

I haven't said **** about it being healthy.

This was not the first example of why being fat is a terrible decision.

Forgive me if I don’t think covid will make a difference.

I have my own feelings about depression but it’s anecdotal.

The messaging of covid needs to be:

"If you are young and healthy, you are at very little risk. You should feel comfortable to live your lives as normal. If you are old and have certain comorbidities - particularly if you are obese - you need to take extra precautions to avoid infection. We recommend making efforts to lose weight. Here are some useful tools to start that process.."

But that would be fat shaming. So instead we gotta lock up everybody in order to protect the people who are unwilling to get healthier on their own

200k less deaths easy with this approach and it was the same one some of us were promoting from day 1.

No one knows the long term effects of COVID. So your statement is not backed by Science.

Hahahahahahahahaha

Hahahahahahahahaha

Back to scary long term effects that would be completely out of the norm for respiratory viruses. Jesus these people never stop.

The lockdown was a relatively short period. It was a quick answer to a problem that needed a quick solution to buy time. Telling people to "get healthier" is something we should've started doing years ago. I think we should start doing it now, too. Thinking it is the immediate solution to a literal pandemic, however, is just silly.
