Can you imagine the conspiracies if we had somehow moved all voting to open spaces outdoors this year instead of just letting people mail in or drop off a ballot? Something about Antifa ninjas in the nearby woods using radio waves to alter votes on the Dominion machines that didn't have effective weatherproofing.

Weird to see a conservative who should be for local control lapping this PR stuff from McMaster. You can complain about “virtue signaling” by people who prefer to wear masks, but pretty much everything McMaster has done for the last year is political virtue signaling, with little positive impact, and plenty of potential negative.
The same time that he announced that we were withdrawing from federal UI programs because of the so-called “labor shortage,” the head of the largest local restaurant group, in announcing the closure of one of their many local joints, said that they didn’t think that UI was the cause of the closure.
My community had the worst COVID numbers in SC. It’s the reddest and most vaccine-hesitant of the larger MSAs, outside the small urban core. I don’t think this is a coincidence. That said, I’m personally ok with the local school district’s decision to make masks optional. I’m personally ok with the effective nullification of local and municipal mask mandates, because they were, in my observation, not really enforceable and, except in a few circumstances, of questionable utility anyway. That was not the case a few months ago, though. But take it from someone who lives here—seeing it used as a political prop, whether by McMaster or by you on a message board—is kinda galling.

This outbreak seems to suggest that the J&J vaccine, while effective against serious illness, is not that effective stopping relatively mild cases.
Wonder if the other MLB teams are using different vaccines. The frequent testing regimen could provide some insights into how those are working.
The question that needs to be asked is what happens if half of a team/group is not vaccinated? Can they become seriously ill from catching covid from vaccinated people? Seems like an important question that has not been put to bed.
