The Coronavirus, not the beer

Update on hospitalization rates (per 100,000) in the least and most highly vaccinated states:

West Virginia 56
Idaho 42
Wyoming 37
Alabama 25
Mississippi 18

Vermont 5
Connecticut 8
Rhode Island 8
Maine 13
Massachusetts 7

i'll let y'all see if you can guess which 5 are the most highly and which 5 are the most lightly vaccinated states

What are these hospitalization rates lets say in 2018?

Btw Mississippi's vaccination rate has been creeping up. Soon it will not be in the bottom 5. I guess the unvaccinated there are either getting vaccinated or dying. Slowly but surely.

anything is possible

the covid patients helicoptered into Spokane because Idaho hospitals are full could be crisis actors

I should have clarified.

Not the raw percentages but the discrepancy between the two regions as a percentage.

You consider sad that young people don't go get it? I don't. I actually think it's pretty sad we basically force them to

NOt only is it sad but its actually the wrong way to defeat the pandemic.

Its a joke how fear and hysteria have clouded rational peoples judgements.

I consider it sad that more people can't make a fairly basic cost-benefit analysis. If you're young you have a small chance of dying of Covid, a larger but still not terribly high chance of getting seriously ill with it, and a very, very high chance of catching it and developing symptomatic illness.

The vaccine can significantly reduce your chances of dying, it can also significantly reduce your chances of getting seriously ill, and it can significantly reduce your chances of getting symptomatic.

The risk associated with the vaccine is absolutely minuscule. You might feel lousy for a day and your arm will hurt but that's about it.

I consider it sad that more people can't do such a simple cost-benefit analysis.

People here like to rail about Covid cowards but they don't want to admit that vaccine cowards are every bit as unreasonable if not more so.

Saying significantly more is misleading because you are relying on percentages and not raw benefit.

I think it’s sad that people don’t understand that.

I played two lottery tickets instead of one today.

My chances increased by 100%!!!

Suppose you're buying a car. The dealer has two nearly identical cars on the lot. The car on the left is $1 cheaper but has a known design flaw that in the extremely rare perfect sequence of events, will cause the car to burst into flames. It's a one in a million chance that it will happen but there will be some people out there burned to death in that kind of car. Now the one on the right is $1 more but has a fix applied to the design flaw. Which car do you buy?

Everyone will pay the extra dollar to avoid try to avoid that one in a million chance.

Yes the chance of dying is remote but it's such a high cost that it makes sense to reduce even remote chances of death when the cost is negligible.

The cost of getting the vaccine is so incredibly low that even a small decrease in the risk of death is worth it.

Lol these analogies.

What about how when getting the vaccine many people feel like **** for a few days?

How about avoiding that?

Why is Europe not allowing young people to get it anymore

You're normally quite logical but you're off the deep end on this one. Disagree with people if you want but let them make their own choice
