I wonder if this academic ever thought he would one day be an enthusiastic supporter of government censorship on information - any information - in this country
Kinda tells you all you know about academics.
Nevermind the fact that the censored information was things like:
- virus originated in Chinese lab
- the vaccine doesn't stop the spread
- masks don't work
- vaccines are causing heart issues in young people
- vaccines are disrupting menstrual cycles
Or ya know... All facts.
But it's always been about the agenda. Always

R2 not that high that’s without factoring in missing variable bias (unvaxxed —> more likely to be obese, age, etc. — I actually don’t know if this relationship exists but a regression model is of little use without it)

thank you for pointing that out...i'm thinking of doing a little multivariate regression adding obesity rates and population density...or better yet assigning it as a class exercise this coming semester
it could also be that poverty rates (or low education rates) are really the forcing variable...the root causes of both ignorance and obesity...a deadly combination as we have been reminded

Would be an interesting study. Do share the results.
Poverty —> obesity, drug abuse, diabetes, lack of healthcare, race, stress etc. Probably something there. It would be a shame if Covid was an epidemic that mainly thinned out the poor working class, while the laptop class got to stay home, save money, exercise more, eat healthier, etc. and then proceed to mock poor people who died just “to own the libs”.
As someone who is vaxxed, I do think it all really does just boils down to star belly sneeches.
