I don't think that's the case; it's just that he really doesn't know how or where to pivot. For 80% of this "campaign," all publicity has been good for Trump, irrespective of how negative said coverage was. Hell, "all Mexicans are rapists" started his run. But it seems to be finally catching up to him a bit, reaching a breaking-point, hitting the titration-line, et cetera; and I don't think his "people" know what to do.

And also maybe he really doesn't want to win.

I think you are misunderstanding - this is not a defense of HRC or the Clinton Foundation but separating fact vs fiction in politics.
We argued a few years back about what actually constitutes a scandal. If I'm not mistaken it was about HRC and I have no earthly idea which "troubling appearance of inappropriateness" was in question.

Apparently conventional wisdom at the time was a scandal can be proclaimed by anyone over anything provided they can get enough people "troubled" by the accusations.
Whether the accusations have merit or not !!!

The only way we'll feel bamboozled in five years is when it's obvious that Clinton is governing less progressively than she campaigned—but in that respect she'll be in the company of her two recent D presidential predecessors, so we'll have no right to feel bamboozled.

My concern is she'll be even more committed to enriching elites and bombing innocent "collateral damage" brown people than Obama has been.
