The NOT August 12 2017 Gamethread

That win today was of serious importantance. As all are, but to take that series from a team that we’ll be battling for a playoff spot is huge.

I think that will happen after the DH if we use up Allard and Sobotka.

I didn't realize allard was still up. I just figured there was no way he'd still be up. The braves really need to get freeman and soroka/McCarthy healthy

Our next 17 games are against the Marlins (8), Rockies (4), Pirates (3), and Rays (2)... We should be able to win at least 11 of those. The Rockies and Pirates are solid, but very beatable and the Rays/Marlins are not good at all. I feel like this upcoming stretch is our best chance for the rest of the year to gain some ground on the Phillies.

Their next 17 are the Red Sox (2), Mets (5), Nationals (6), Blue Jays (3), and Cubs (1). I think that is a tougher stretch than what we have coming up. Hopefully we can take advantage and the Phillies go on a bit of a slump.

Yeah, worst team among that group is the Jays, but hopefully they call up Guerrero by then and he kills it out of the gate.

Mets aren't a good team this year either, but their rotation can shut out anyone on any given night, so that helps.

The Rays were 3 games over .500 heading into today. And that’s playing in the AL East. They’re not a bad team at all. This is going to be a tough stretch for the Braves.

They've been a .500 ball club all season. But optimistically, they just traded away 2 of their best starting pitchers, 2 of their better relievers, and Ramos was arguably their best hitter for most of the year. Glasnow seems like he's been rejuvenated there, but it's only been 2 starts. It's unlikely we see both Glasnow and Snell anyways with the way their rotation is currently set up, and the rest of their rotation is garbage.

When is Ramos supposed to be back? That Phillies lineup will be much tougher if he comes back strong

Are we still breaking the schedule up into groups of a few games as if predictions or results over such small samples mean anything?

The Braves have 47 games to go, and likely need to win 25+ of them to win the division.

The Phillies have a remaining schedule almost identically tough as the Braves. It will likely come down to the final 7 games they play against each other Sept 20-30.

BTW 8-3 Padres, one out bottom of the 8th. Looking good right now.

Padres running wild on the bases this game much like the Brewers did in Milwaukee against us.

I hope not, I hope we have a nice lead by then as once they add Ramos at catcher and Bour vs us I think they could take us this time. But if we go into with a few game lead on them I'll like our chances as I do think it would be a close series and probably only gain a game or two whomever wins the most.
