People will tell you that’s impossible

Mathematically it is pretty improbably.

From 560 to 240 is 320 pounds of weight loss. Over 2 years is 3 Pounds a week. Which isn't impossible without surgery etc. But improbable. IIRC the max weight you can lose in a week is theorized around 5 pounds. THe standard per week is 1-2 pounds.

So either he had weight loss surgery (probable) or he's starving himself (not likely as he has muscles)

Odds are if you're making a change from not lifting to lifting your goal is sliding your macros to higher protein, odds are you cannot feed your muscles while running a 2500 a day deficit.

Unless he's lying about timeline or omitting weightloss surgery it's improbable for him to lose that much weight and lift enough to gain noticeable biceps.

At those high weights you can shed much more than 1-2 pounds. Once he reaches a threshold the weight loss will be more as you referenced but with commitment and those top weights shedding 5-10 pounds a week isn't (a) hard or (b) unhealthy.

This is a perfect example of what's wrong with American medical thinking. This isn't about health, imo, but just another way to sell patients a quick fix that doesn't work and in the end only gives you new problems and side effects.

Americans are fat and getting fatter. But now pharmaceutical companies are rolling out new prescription drugs that really do help people lose and keep off significant amounts of body fat. Celebrities like Elon Musk have touted their benefits. The side effects appear minimal, but the weight stays off only as long as users keep injecting the drugs weekly.

The share of overweight Americans has been ticking relentlessly upward. In 1960, 31.5 percent of adults in the U.S. were overweight (13.4 percent of whom were obese); today, 73 percent are overweight (42.4 percent of whom are obese.). Overweight and obese are defined as having a body mass index over 25 and 30, respectively. A body mass index measures the ratio of a person's height to his weight to roughly estimate his amount of body fat.

Especially if you turn to a keto style diet that uses fat as energy instead of sugar. At that weight level the pounds will melt off.
 
I agree with you as it seems like everyone who gets to that level of obesity is a republican from some backwoods part of the south.

Not totally untrue, but you obviously haven’t seen Deep South African Americans.

I know big is beautiful in that culture, but like big is also morbidly obese down here

The dopamine release one gets from sugar or empty carb foods is highly, highly addictive.

It puts you in cycle of over-eating and fat-storing that is so hard to get out of, but it feels natural.
 
Have cut out a lot of alcohol over the last month, even while on a trip to the keys. The difference is staggering. Appetite has actually been higher, but still realizing the fat loss benefits. Can see a time when I only drink in very social situations or one drink to finish of the weekend or a nice meal ahead.

every time I gain weight its when I am drinking a lot... either rduring work travel or vacation.

cutting it out for even two weeks always results in 5+ lbs shed
 
Still at it. Only drinking maybe once per week.

Workouts have been better.

Sleep isn’t great at the moment but that comes and goes.
 
If you are a parent and obese, 89% chance your kids will be too.
