The Reverse Pennant Chase

Teams rarely jump from bottom 5 to playoffs.

We're still a few years away

There was a possibility of us contending by next year, but the Wood, Kimbrel, Kemp, and Simmons trades and Markakis signings ruined that.

I still think 2019 is plausible. We would need Folty, Newcomb, and Teheran to be above average pitchers by then though.

Yup. It's all about the pitching. This year and next are growing pains time. But by then we'll have a better read on whether Newk can get there, Teheran can get back, Folty keeps developing and those terrific young guys can start being spliced in.

It wouldn't be criminal to deal 2-3 prospects for an Archer or somebody to stabilize the rotation from 2018-2021. I think I'd prefer to wait on the home grown guys, though...we've waited this long.

1. Phillies- 42-71

2. Giants- 46-70

3. White Sox- 45-68

4. Reds- 49-67

5. Athletics- 51-65

6. Padres- 51-64

7. Braves- 51-62

Must. Keep. Losing.

I can smell that bigger pool of bonus money from here.

I hope Albies, Inciarte, Freeman, Folty, Newk go on a tear the next month and a half and we get another Top 5 pick.

My hope is that Freddie and all the young kids do very well, but Snitker misuses the bullpen who blows a ton of games. Thus, leading to a managerial change, a top 5 pick, and the kids playing well going into 2018.

The 3 game set next weekend with Reds gonna be big for tank standings.

We lost.

Phillies won tonight.

We are getting closer.

Just one less win and we'd be in 5th. I'm very satisfied, we've done an excellent job at blowing games but keeping it interesting this year. I guess it was about this time last year that we had a huge comeback win that ended up coming back to haunt us in the end last year.

Could be a huge next 5 days for Atlanta to gain ground. Atlanta hasn't fared well in St. Louis or Denver over the past many years.

August is a key month since Atlanta can gain ground on Cincinnati and Philadelphia.

I hope Jon Heyman and others who have been saying that Snitker deserves 2018 are placing pause on that notion now. Atlanta is only playing .333 ball since the all star break. Kemp has little to do with this as well.

I wonder how run down some of the guys are. I think snit only sees a 20 man roster unless the game is out of hand.

Take away the other four starting pitchers, the backup catcher, Jace Peterson and someone like Fried who only sees blowouts, Snit is really working with an 18 man roster to start each game.

Haunted us to land Kyle Wright?
