The Reverse Pennant Chase

Phillies- 49-81 (.377)
Giants- 53-80 (.398)
White Sox- 52-77 (.403)
Reds- 55-76 (.420)
Padres- 57-74 (.435)
Mets- 57-73 (.438)
Tigers- 57-73 (.438)
Braves- 57-72 (.442)
Athletics- 58-73 (.443)

I still think we can chase down the Phillies.

I'm a homer, I had them at 75-78.

If they fail to win 70 games for a 3rd year in a row...who is held accountable?

Wait, I know, they weren't REALLY trying to win this year either.

If they fail to win 70, I see the entire coaching staff removed. Coppy won't be on the hot seat until next year because he can still fall back on the great minor league system. But that well is drying up and the lack of development is going to cost him eventually.

When you say lack of development, you mean the pitchers they acquired through trade who haven't been effective?

I am curious about the well drying up comment. I haven't seen signs that the minor league system is going down hill at all. The development argument I see, but not the minor league well drying up. Tell me what leads you to that conclusion.

Pretty sure Matt meant the well of defense based on how good the minor league system is. The FO can only say, "sure the team sucks and revenue is lower than expected, but look at the prospects!", for so long.

That time is obviously near, as evidenced by the recent executive shakeup.

yes, I didn't mean the minors are drying up.. but eventually slight of hand magic will stop fooling everyone. They will say, great, but what about Niners request to have a good MLB team.

Which leads us right back to the real point...

This was always intended to be a 3 year rebuild. Upper management would never have allowed a 5 year rebuild when opening a new stadium in year 3.

Promises of being competitive are not being kept, and we are starting to see the consequences.

Even while losing, cant gain any ground.

Mets, Tigers, Reds, A's keep losing. All teams are good at tanking.

Still standing around 7-8.
