The Trump Presidency

WH officials with whom I spoke said POTUS got the info about wiretap from media - Breitbart, Levin - not from govt sources.

Watching the entire country slowly figure out how a guy who doesn't have to pay any taxes could even bankrupt a casino.

This is why you don't hire someone who spent his life avoiding taxes and only learned about politics from watching himself on Fox & Friends.

If Twump went to his daily Intelligence briefings he could've and should've sniffed this out in the first few days in office.

Seems rather derelict of duty that somebody on his staff didn't definitively have all this information at least within the first week. It's like his comment about just learning that health care was so difficult. Is the real Donald that misinformed? I assume his Twitter persona is mainly a ruse.

When this is all over, the Trump story will represent all the ills of American society:

Celebrity-worship,

frivolous ignorance,

racism, etc.

your thoughts ?

I am glad all the ills of America are being highlighted because Trump is in office as opposed to having all the ills of America be ignored while Hillary is President. Maybe now Democrats will nominate someone who isnt a status quo candidate next time. The way I see it with if Hillary won we would have a minimum of 8 years of prohibitionists in office. Even if Hilldog loses for re election that means we get an asshat republican whonwill be a prohibitionist. If Hilldog wins re election then a Republican almost certainly wins after that. Thats 12 years of continued war against our own people. 16 if the Republican wins re election.

Hillary is not president, so what is your point and/or strange obsession with a hypothetical HRC presidency ?

The politics of the drug war and war on crime go far deeper than person ABor C is responsible.
Were you involved in the politics of Law and Order candidates dating back to the late 1960's and realize how that fear was embedded in the minds and politics of suburban America then passed down from generation to generation ?
Do you understand that mindset evolved from the inner city riots that exposed the lack of preparedness on the part of police ?
Do you understand how local procurement of advanced surplus military equipment effect policing?
Do you understand that local policing is more at the heart of the issues you write about.

Your points sometimes remind me of AA's expecting Obama to be sociologist in chief.
Right church -- wrong pew

It is not a new or groundbreaking thought on my part that the basis of overreach on the part of law enforcement is largely a result racism.
Nor is celebrity worship innocent due to the cowboy nature of some individual officers
and the term frivolous ignorance talks ( no swears ) for itself on this topic

I think Cajun's point is - and I agree with it - is that the Trump presidency is waking Americans up to the horror of our government, and may inspire real change.

HRC would have kept up the lies and deceipt and the left would have sleptwalk through all the corruption and nothing would have changed

ah, "the left"
it's not even 10 AM yet

When I think of "the left" I think of Howard Zinn Noam Chomsky and their ilk.
They have been in the forefront of this issue since 1965 ish
to where you are laying blame for sleepwalking here look no further than bedroom communities and suburbs that vote.
Or, let me simplify, I take it most here are younger than me - were born and raised in suburban America and though you feel this way, how do your parents aunts and uncles vote ?
What about brothers and sisters that are invested in not upsetting the apple cart.
Or as Public Enemy put in "Fear of a Black Planet"
Remember the people on this board you vilify for supporting HRC were for the most part originally Sanders supporters

you are making a good point for a change

Sad how the "responsible" GOP response is now "Trump is full of **** but he's saying something that's close to what we want to believe."

People who worked with Steve Jobs claimed his powers of persuasion were so strong they gave a name to it: the RDF (reality distortion field). That's what Drumph believes he has, the power to distort reality. Hard to deny it.

But Ryan and McConnell know exactly what he is and they are going to stick with him as long as they can.

The stories currently are three-fold: first, that Obama’s team tried to get a warrant from a regular, Article III federal court on Trump, and was told no by someone along the way (maybe the FBI), as the evidence was that weak or non-existent; second, Obama’s team then tried to circumvent the federal judiciary’s independent role by trying to mislabel the issue one of “foreign agents,” and tried to obtain a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act “courts”, and were again turned down, when the court saw Trump named (an extremely rare act of FISA court refusal of the government, suggesting the evidence was truly non-existent against Trump); and so, third, Obama circumvented both the regular command of the FBI and the regularly appointed federal courts, by placing the entire case as a FISA case (and apparently under Sally Yates at DOJ) as a “foreign” case, and then omitted Trump’s name from a surveillance warrant submitted to the FISA court, which the FISA court unwittingly granted, which Obama then misused to spy on Trump and many connected to Trump.

This seems plausible. Hopefully true

I know a great deal about prohibition, the war on drugs, and policing. It really all boils down to giving the federal government way too much power and courts ****ting all over the constitution.

As for Hillary, she is relevant because we were only allowed 2 options. **** sandwich and Giant Douche. I defend Trump as being the lesser of 2 evils. And she isnt innocent in the slightest bit when it comes to the war on drugs her and her husband championed the 1994 crime bill that ramped up the war on drugs. A black person voting for the Clintons is like a Muslim voting for Trump. Makes no sense to me. Trump only wants to keep Muslims out, the Clintons wanted to put them in cages and make them slaves again.
