"Government spending" is a pretty broad brush.
If memory serves you asked me to name what govt program I was in favor of cutting
Remembering my answer as -- the military off the top of my head and qualified that I don't keep a copy of which government programs I am in favor of cutting in my shirt pocket.
And ass a general rule I don't view spending and cuts as an end all be all political philosophy.
3/4 the problems in PR right now stem from austerity programs.
If the car needs tires -- you buy tires.
If you have trouble affording new tires figure out how to bring in more money without the kids missing meals
Unlike some I view one being flexible to change ones mind and adapting to situations an admirable quality.
I read earlier where you scoffed at a fellow poster for not having the same stance he had 5 years ago.

I don't take any politician, pundit, lawyer, or used car salesman at their word. Make no mistake, I am no huge fan of Trump. I think he had and has an opportunity to make an enormous positive impact on the office of the Presidency and the long term outlook of the country. I also think he is the biggest obstacle to realizing that opportunity. He occasionally shows signs of realizing that potential. Then he tweets about something stupid or calls athletes SOBs.

Because the left for some reason needs to emotionally react to LITERALLY everything he says and does. Trump may be mentally insane but his opposition are showing the same exact thing.
I'd use different adjectives but boring is certainly one that fits.
