If it's incidental collection when he wasn't the target that would be fine. Also if it were done via warrant that would be ok. I do feel though that if it were part of an investigation of something like hacking by the Russia government it would absolutely be legitimate. The only way it would be wrong would be if it were simply a fishing expedition.

well it doesn't make sense to shine about a presidents 're election. If Trump wins again they can't really blame Russia this time around. Democrats were up in arms after 2000 but couldn't say **** after 2004.
I don't really think our elections are legitimate so long as the primaries are not legally required to be fair to all candidates.

I’ll try to sort through the substance of all this. But I also want to make a broader argument about how Trump’s support system — inside his government but especially in the conservative media and on Fox, which is where he apparently gets most of his intelligence information — is playing to his worst instincts, harming him politically, and making his presidency even more dangerous.

I’d say that if members of the Trump team were in communication with foreign actors who were under surveillance, that damn sure has “foreign intelligence value,” and it’s not too surprising that the national security adviser would want to know about it. We’re talking about associates of a presidential candidate communicating with representatives of a foreign power.

Yes, it speaks volumes alright. The problem is, it speaks totally different kinds of volumes. To Dems it says "Fox is nuts anyway so...." to the Repubs it says "Fox always tells us the truth (sort of) so this too much be true". How much do you think actual real evidence means to either party? Whatever comes up it'll get filed into either the "True Dat" file or the "Fake News" file depending on who sees it and without much regard IMO for whether or not it really is the truth.
