The Trump Presidency

In the early 70's when I first moved south a former Fla Highway Patrolman I was doing work for drove me around to show me trees where over his career he had cut down lynched "Negroes"
Could never tell whether he was warning me or condemning lynching. It was weird

Yes, a different time would be one way to put it

Erick Erickson used to be a city councilman in Macon and I once heard him talk about the building of I-75 through Macon. The right of way went right through a black neighborhood, and down the middle of several homes. The DOT took only half of those people's lots, bulldozed through the middle of the houses to clear the highway side of the right of way, and left the homeowners the responsibility of cleaning up any debris on their side. And only payed half the value of the homes. It's difficult to imagine humans treating other humans that way.

Or pretty much any urban interstate project. Or just a quick survey of white America's reactions to Title IV housing provisions in the Civil Rights Act.

I wish we could all internalize that history when we talk about Confederate monuments or the horrors of PC culture.

Using todays moral standards of course.....

Times were a bit different in the south in the 70's. Now I don't agree with it and if I were lucky enough to have a daughter I would never want her dating someone that much older than her when she was a teenager. However, to act like time period context doesn't matter is a bit off IMO.

What a load of horse****. The 70s wasn't that long ago and the South isn't Uganda.

You must not be paying attention then because people with no conscience are all over the place. Cops literally rob people at gun point. Many small towns will pull you over and if you have 100$ or more in your possession they seize your money and car. Judges rule that fathers with no biological connection to a child are financially responsible.

are you just learning all of this ?

Ever read To Kill a Mockingbird or Grapes of Wrath or any of the classics? Even Robin Hood --- Sheriff of Nottingham would tax for his own self.
Makes one wonder about Barney Fife and why he disappeared so qickly

They all speak to the same topics and have for centuries

or the blacklists of the 1950's .

You act like all of this is new stuff or just started in 1995

John Sinclair was cause celeb in the early 70's when he got 10 years for possession of one joint. John Lennon even wrote a song they played on the radio.

People don't get 10 years for possession any longer

The biggest topic on the Right is how to get a child molester elected so a perjured Attorney General can resign and his replacement can fire a special prosecutor who’s discovering the president’s treason.
