I don't really care about de-nuking, but would be thrilled if it happened.

I'm happy that dialogue of peace is happening both with us and South Korea. I'm happy we are pulling troops out of the area. I'm happy Un seems serious and is already setting more meetings with the President.

We are not doing this with an iron fist but rather peace and diplomacy. This is a good thing! Will it work? Who knows but I'm encouraged and am unsure why everyone isn't.

No one promised you WW3. Stop exaggerating.

I'm pissed because I think T is acting purely out of self interests, meaning his own political survival, and not in the long term interests of the country.

On the good side is an open and continuing dialogue with NK. Trump will be gone soon and maybe he's paving the way for the future.

I am equally skeptical.
I think it will all come down to China. They have a perpetual rope around KJU's neck. If he is genuinely willing to play nice with us then he either has their permission, or has reason to believe they are about to tighten the rope.
I have difficulty believing Xi is going to stand by and watch while we successfully denuclearize the Korean peninsula at the same time China is grabbing as much influence as possible in the Western Pacific. The only explanations I can think of for such a course of action lead to bad places.

The World Cup and the Olympics are not a benefit to any country. We should always actively wish to lose our bid.

Edited to add: hadn’t seen the news before posting, not taking this stance just because we actually “won.”

At one time I held the same belief
The 1996 Olympics changed my mind. People from all over the world congregate around sport.

There really seemed like an open rebellion on the voting against us with some European federations coming out and saying they would vote Morocco. A lot thought it could happen

but it is funny trump said "we have nothing to worry about anymore!" when that is very clearly not the case. but i forgot - his words don't matter. the words of the president no longer matter.

Make an about face to say what a smart move it is to talk to dictators now
