Meanwhile, data is consistent that welfare breeds dependency... And it's liberal policies that aim to increase dependency on government. Agreed on war on drugs, but have the democrats done to stop it?

The left sees people in groups. We HAVE to stop that and treat people as individuals. But you refuse to do that bc then you can't play victim card

Well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.

We’re in highly subjective territory here. A lot of people in the business think the show was very good. The suits apparently thought it didn’t get enough views to be viable. I have no opinion on either score, but I think the tweet (which, for context, was by a tv writer who probably has some insight into the way these things work) was suggesting that female comics and writers have fewer opportunities in that venue and less margin for error. I think it’s likely that situation has improved a lot in recent years, but I think it’s pretty easy to make a case that it’s been historically true. So while I can’t say with full confidence that she is right, I think the sentiment is a little harder to dismiss than you seem to.

At the federal level, not nearly enough, although most of the movement towards reform has come from Democrats. On the state and local level...well, quite a bit.

As for data being consistent that welfare breeds dependency...that’s pretty dicey as an absolute statement.

If welfare breeds dependency, what did slavery breed? And that's not playing the 'victim card', just an honest question.

I don't see what is wrong with a little dependency to people who need it. I'd rather poor people be dependent on govt assistance than on selling illegal drugs. Everyone in society, including the rich, are dependent on others to a great extent.

I'm all for treating people as individuals.
 
You sweet summer child. You havr no idea the level of fraud that goes on in our welfare system. Many drug dealers get assistance because they have no reported income. I managed HUD housed and saw the daughters get pregnant so they could get their own HUD house.


I am always willing to compromise on issues so I am fine with some assistance. I think it should always come with time limits and they should have to show a reasonable amount of good faith that they are using the assistance to improve their situation. Dont have more kids. Dont do drugs... even the legal ones like alcohol and tobacco. No lottery tickets.



One thing I hate are low caps on earnings for peoplw getting assistance. I cant tell you how many times I had hours to give and people them because they would lose as much or more in benefits for working more. One girl was requires to work a minimum of 20 hours to get hee welfare. The second her time was up she was like the juggernaut running out of that place.

Some other ideas I like. After people get off assistance there should be a tax added to their paycheck till the amount is paid off. I would love to see a bunch of olubtary taxes added. If you love the miitary and a strong national defense you get to put your money where your mouth is. Wany little Jimmy to get free healthcare? Heres your chance to help. Worried someday you might need assistance, good news, pay a preemptive tax so when your in need theres already money there. If you only eant to pay for these things if other people are forced to by threat of violence ans incarceration then maybe that cause isnt worth funding in the first place. I want the ability to protest bad government service by not giving them my money to do bad ****.

I had no idea this guy existed. I seriously doubt Trumps motives are sincere but I cant believe other US presidents let this mother****er stay here. Its known since 2003 and he was stripped of US citizenship in 2005. I can understand having to wait until its proven who he is and that he lied to get citizenship but no excuse beyond that. No country would take him? Dump his ass in the middle of the ocean. Send his ass to Guantanamo Bay and treat him like Haspel treated those terrorists. Jesus ****ing Christ pour honey on him and leave him on an ant hill. Bush and Obama are bastards for letting this ****er live out his life here.
