This team is HORRIBLE!

Somewhere in Brewerland a brewer fan I'd saying the same thing of his team. They started like 10-2 and they have been worse than the braves since then. I don't know what kind of team you think wins the second Wild card but it's rarely going to be a good team. All of this mirror looking and making other teams afraid is nonsense worthy or Skip Bayliss. Momentum is as good as the next days starter. The regular season and playoffs are different, maybe we will be better suited for the playoffs. There is one team we know we can beat and it's the team we would likely face if we win the play in game. If an 84 win cardinal team can win the world series why not the Braves? We have the pitching to compete with anyone but the Dodgers.

We couldn't win but one with the greatest collection of talent the NL had seen since the 1970s. You can hope, you can dream, you can wish, but the Braves just simply aren't good enough in 2014.

All that proves is that anything can happen as long as you make the playoffs.

The wait only makes it sweeter when you win. It took my football team 30 years to have a winning season and 15 more win a super bowl. At least the braves are playing meaningful games and we aren't the mets where the only meaningful game is opening day.

Except we will be a half game outside of a playoff spot after tonight. How is that mediocre?

You judge based on where we stand in position for playoffs? It's the same when an 8-8 team in the NFL makes the playoffs. They got in because the league in that particular year was just that bad. Yea, we're in position for playoffs but that's because the team pool of MLB this year just isn't that great

NFL playoffs don't really compare to MLB when it comes to the wild card. You might have a point if a division sucks and a poor team makes the playoffs like the Cards did a few years back.

Yes it was worded wrong. The Braves aren't mediocre or horrible. Anybody that thinks so is foolish.

Do you just ignore that we have been around .500 most of the season and below .500 since late April? We're not mediocre in terms of talent, but our results haven't been good at all.

So because this team isn't as good as the Braves from 91,92,93,96,97,98,and 99 they aren't good enough to get hot at the right time and make a run in the playoffs? That's interesting, because most of the teams that have won the World Series since the end of the consecutive division title streak have been inferior to each and every one of those Braves teams I listed. Some of the World Series winners were inferior to the Braves team that year (I'm looking at you, Marlins and 2006 Cardinals).

Nobody thinks this team is the best in baseball, but they're nowhere near as bad as you make them out to be. It would take a lot of luck and timing for them to advance past the wild card game if they get there, but lets not act like it hasn't been done before by other equally mediocre teams.

Personally I think they are worse than their record because they played over their heads in April. Two sides of the same coin just depends on which side you look at it from.

The Braves were 17-9 in April (actually includes the opener which was in March) and have been mediocre ever since.

The Pirates, who you claimed deserved to be in the playoffs more than the Braves, were 17-10 in June.

The Brewers were 20-8 in March/April, and have been mediocre since.

Both of those teams had a month where they were abysmal, winning fewer than ten games. If anything, you could make the argument that the Braves are better because they have been more consistent than either of those teams. The Braves 7-3 record against them, with all but four games coming on the road, makes a compelling argument as well.

Yeah. And other contending teams have had their ups and downs. Giants. A's. Blue Jays. Tigers. Royals.

Like others have said we are not a horrible team but are an average team with FG as manger if he wasn't here we would be an above average MLB team. ;)

Braves are now tied for the last wild card spot.

Amazing that we are still in this thing with the way we've played. Just need to get on a 10 game hot streak to secure this spot and hope that our pitching goes crazy.

Right now we are in a tie with the Brewers for 5th least horrible or 10th most horrible in the NL depending on how you want to look at it.
