while they are at it hopefully they will continue scrubbing the school libraries of all copies of Anaïs Nin's diaries and Catherine Millet's memoirs.

And surely this passage from Portnoy's Complaint must count as pornography:

On an outing of our family association, I once cored an apple, saw to my astonishment (and with the aid of my obsession) what it looked like, and ran off into the woods to fall upon the orifice of the fruit, pretending that the cool and mealy hole was actually between the legs of that mythical being who always called me Big Boy when she pleaded for what no girl in all recorded history had ever had. “Oh shove it in me, Big Boy,” cried the cored apple that I banged silly on that picnic. “Big Boy, Big Boy, oh give me all you’ve got,” begged the empty milk bottle that I kept hidden in our storage bin in the basement, to drive wild after school with my vaselined upright. “Come, Big Boy, come,” screamed the maddened piece of liver that, in my own insanity, I bought one afternoon at a butcher shop and, believe it or not, violated behind a billboard on the way to a bar mitzvah lesson.

Why is the left so furious that Florida is passing a bill not allowing sex ed curriculum in grades k-2nd?

I hate the idea of the state saying this is what you must or must not teach in your classrooms.

I wouldn't want my hypothetical 1st grader being taught sex ed, but this is just another issue in a countless list of education issues that would be better solved through school choice.

There's a golden opportunity for (R) to meaningfully expand school choice and win these battles long-term, giving themselves a structural advantage over (D). Unsurprisingly to me, it looks like they'd rather squander their opportunity by playing tit-for-tat with these laws that seem designed to trigger their opponents more than anything. This law will be repealed as soon as (D) wins in Florida. I know thethe thinks there's a 100 year run of (R) control coming, but school choice would be a great hedge to that bet...

And what's particularly irritating is they want to co-opt school choice language and pretend that's what they're doing...the "Parental Rights in Education" bill would be more aptly named for a bill that says we're going to allow for an array of education options, give parents a voucher, and let them use it to seek out the education they think is most appropriate.

I'll ask again. What exactly are these kindergardeners, first graders and second graders being taught. Do they actually teach kids that young about sex? I don't remember any of my kids having sex ed in those grades.

Or is this prohibition performative art?

If it's not being taught why is the left so furious about it being removed

Oh I agree. But the right is playing offense against the lefts overstepping their control.

It's not an ideal situation but an inevidible one

i'll have to take your word that the left is furious about something being removed that's not being taught

do i have that right...truly the left has lost its mind

Bingo !!!

Making young people aware of their bodies and begin teaching the functions of their bodies. Paves the way for intelligent conversations about pre marital sex, contraception, orientation etc
You know adult things

Teaching or, better yet discussing with 5 and 6 year Olds about their pee pees and cuni's and let's get the giggles out of the way, so as 11 and 12 year Olds they are prepared to make better decisions.

Want to talk about abortion ?
Yes that too would be in the conversation.
Prepare kids for puberty and young adulthood

How is children's sexual education a bad thing ??

There's a time and a place (and an age for it). I don't know the "right" answer and there probably isn't one.

If only there was a solution where some parents could send their kids to schools teaching sex ed in 2nd grade and other parents could send their kids to schools where it's taught later. If only!

You have that option now.
Send your kids to private school .
Or is it too expensive and you want the rest of us to fund it for you ?

Yeah let's wait to teach sex Ed until 2 or 3 of the fem are pregnant

You underestimate the hormones of a 13-14 year old
