You in fact would be wrong, at least technically.

This bill is about the solicitation of sex. Currently it is NOT a felony to solicit sex from a minor in CA. You don't even have to register as a sex offender.

I know you or end wokeness are both out of touch old people. But imagine a 14 year old goes on a dating app impersonating being of age, a 20 year old thinks they're talking to someoen they can legally date and offers this person something for sex. THat would be a felony under the original law.

Imagine if you would 2 16 year olds one person offers to have sex with someone else for something that could be considered solicitation. Shoudl that person be a registered sex offender felon?

You are wrong on both fronts.

This doesn't change the current law regarding that. This proposal is in regards to someone who knows - or should have known- the person they were soliciting was a minor.

16 year olds soliciting sex would also not fall under this.
