Let me clear up the position for you

The state messed up (surprise surprise) not convicting him of murder. A bunch of leftist loser in a jury felt bad for the sob story.

He should have been convicted of murder, which you appear to disagree with.

He should be executed
, which you disagree with.

He should never be allowed to walk society again. Which you, miraculously, also appear to disagree with

I don’t know all the facts of the case, so I don’t actually have a position on whether he should have been convicted of murder. Maybe you’re right and he’s still a danger to society. But once he wasn’t convicted of murder on the basis of insanity, a thing that successfully happens incredibly infrequently, I do agree he should not be executed. The stats on insanity pleas:

Insanity can be extremely difficult to prove. In fact, less than 1% of defendants in criminal cases plead insanity as their defense in the United States, and only about .26% of those who plead insanity are successful in their plea, according to the same source. Each year, only about 30 defendants in America succeed with their insanity plea.

30 people in a given year successfully use this defense because the legal system is correctly skeptical of its use. Claiming those people should also be killed by the state is aggressively pro-state power. Your argument is artificially enhanced by the fact he ate the guy’s brain, because your position that he should be killed anyway is dependent on it being common sense that we always kill cannibals. But the world is not filled with crazy cannibals, it’s mostly filled with other people who should not have the state be allowed to kill them for crimes they were not convicted of.

Thats why I don't care about institutions the death penalty anymore. There will always be Marxists who fight to the death to ensure criminals get more chances to commit crime.

I simply find it naive of you to believe those same Marxists would stop at “ensuring criminals get more chances to commit crime” and not use any additional authority to kill its citizens to do that to others that weren’t convicted of a crime.

For the last few days, everytime I open X, I see people saying Trump and Elon are planning on stealing the gold out of Ft Knox. WTH

Considering the left has gone crazy on all fronts, this is a reassuring data point that God certainly exists

How does that prove anything. If a God existed as Republicans think he does then that means God wanted Joe Biden to be President. Right?

I'm not sure religiosity is something to hold up as proof of better mental health or grasp of reality.

A significant amount just believe in the concept of God and don't believe in any religions specific God.

That's true, but it's the "without doubt" piece that I find amazing. I've always assumed that all but a tiny fraction of people have at least some sliver of doubt.

It's just human nature to make up something to explain what we don't know. Every civilization and tribe has a religion and worshipped something. It's only because of the increased access to knowledge that religion is dying off. At some point there will be a breaking point where being religious will be seen as a negative instead of a positive. Maybe another 50-100 years. I personally don't care what people choose to believe but I start to care when they use their votes and authority to force it down unwilling people throats. Religion goes hand in hand with mental illness. I can't even quantify the amount of people who have killed someone because they think God told them to. Probably atleast 100 people a year.

There is a reason Giordano Bruno was burned at the stake and Galileo was silenced. Science is deadly to many aspects of religion.

The stubborn rearguard action regarding Darwin and teaching evolution is schools is another example.

“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that
is lies straight from the pit of Hell... It’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught
that from understanding that they need a savior... You see, there are a lot of scientific data that
I’ve found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don’t believe
that the earth’s but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them.
That’s what the Bible says.”

Technology, 2012.

Broun btw is an MD. Showing that a modern scientific education is not a 100% successful inoculation against idiocy.
