That’s not really something that was being dictated to anybody, though. While I don’t disagree the cultural landscape has shifted, these types of things were in the category of performative wokeness. American Eagle presumably has not done well historically with the “obese black women” demo and it sounds better to bring up inclusion than to tell consumers you’re shamelessly pandering to them.

I understand your the bleeding heart but what happened over post decade was insane. Obscenely obese people should not be promoting anything besides the before picture of an Ozynpic ad

This isn’t a bleeding heart thing. I know you understand sales and advertising enough to know that capturing new customers is a big key. If America in general had lost its mind, it’s not the job of AE advertisers to course correct, it’s to sell jeans.

Yeah but this was a market situation

Firms like blackrock admitted to social engineering companies to push their agenda. They refused to invest or offer access to investments unless companies achieved an approved ESG score. Part of that score was marketing garbage like morbidly obese people as sex symbols
 

Methinks the left is unfairly injecting Sydney Sweeney’s whiteness into this when it’s also just true that Sydney Sweeney’s genes made her very attractive. There’s not a contrast being offered where other eye colors or traits not shared by Sweeney are seen as less desirable. I can squint and see *why* some think this is controversial within the context of some other things happening in the world, but I’m not buying it.
