NEW YORK — A pro-Palestinian rally Sunday in Times Square endorsed by the city chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America ensnared prominent party members amid widespread condemnation of the event.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and other leading Democrats blasted the rally as “abhorrent and morally repugnant” and drew a dividing line with far-left members of the party — including New York Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman, who denounced the attacks and called for a ceasefire but didn’t take a stand on the rally.

“The NYC-DSA is revealing itself for what it truly is: an antisemitic stain on the soul of America’s largest city,” Bronx Rep. Ritchie Torres wrote on X. “There is a special place in hell for those who glorify the cold-blooded murder of civilians and children.”

“The Squad” members, which includes members of Democratic Socialists and who have long supported Palestinians, were knocked by Republicans and some members of their party for not noting Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks.

Surely it is possible to simultaneously support Israel's right to defend itself, to observe that Hamas is a terrorist organization and to believe that Israel's policies toward the Palestinians aren't exactly kosher.

My sympathy is always with those who are just trying to live their lives and get caught up in things. There are many on both sides who fall into this category. Honestly I think those who will live peacefully should be accepted and radicals should be sniffed out. I will say that carving out a religious state on previously unoccupied land was one of the dumbest and most un-American things we have ever done and yes I know the history and that it wasn’t just us. The United States should never get into religious politics domestically or internationally.

It wasn't "previously unoccupied land." That is literally the root of the problem.

Agreed. Not sure why I typed that. That was not what I was thinking. We and our Allie’s should have accepted displaced Jewish people wherever they wanted to settle in our borders without discrimination but helping them carve out a country was a mistake. I know the idea originated around the turn of the century and really took hold after World War I but I feel like after the Holocaust it was hard to say no to anything and a situation was created that is essentially permanent conflict.

I didn't think Kelly and Milley could get beat for the biggest POS General award but we have a clear new winner. Click to read the entire dialogue.
