1993: In his final day as a player, 45-year old Carlton Fisk plays in his 2,226th game at catcher, breaking Bob Boone's record. After playing the first 11 years of his career with the Red Sox, he finished the rest with the White Sox.
1999: Hack Wilson, 51 years after his death, is given credit for another RBI in 1930, increasing his record total to 191 for that season. Historian Jerome Holtzman discoved the Cubs outfielder didn't get credit for driving in Kiki Cuyler in a game played in July that season.
2001: The Braves trade reliever John Rocker and minor leaguer Troy Cameron to the Indians for relievers Steve Reed, Steve Karsay, and cash. Rocker had become a controversial figure after comments he made in a Sports Illustrated article caused a firestorm. He made references about New Yorkers, unwed mothers, homosexuals, and immigrants in the infamous article.
