Top TV Shows

Have to admit that season 5 is a bit underwhelming for me.

I mean McNulty's Mission is insane. Freamon is losing it.

The bright spots of this season have been:
Clay Davis
Omar's Crusade
Marlo knocking off Prop Joe and the Co-Op.
Moreland's Detective Work.

The budget crisis doesn't interest me. The McNulty fabricating everything storyline is making me cringe. I also hate continuing that its coming at the expense of degrading Freamon's character. Carcetti's crusade for the governorship and the politics with it doesn't interest me. It's just rehashing his campaign politics but with bigger fish.

The newspaper politics have been good. But it's being brought down because of this stupid McNulty thing.

There's a big overall pattern of some of the series' key characters not thinking clearly in Season 5. I didn't really care for the McNulty/Freamon deal myself, but it was realistic for the most part and winds up having a significant payoff, once you begin to consider the show's main themes.

Just finished this show. Can't even imagine how much much much more I'd appreciate it, if I didn't binge watch it in a week and some change. I'll definitely revisit it in a few weeks and spread it out more to give it more time to digest.

Just wanted to say, that this is what I felt each Season's themes were in my eyes:
Season 1 - Family
Season 2 - Brotherhood & Loyalty
Season 3 - Betrayal
Season 4 - Changing of the Guard
Season 5 - Reputations

I always like to watch 2 episodes at a time when I go through it. I've learned that every time you watch it, you notice more and can take different angles on things. Also, I think a key theme of season 5 and the reason for bringing in the media is to reflect how that part of the world is ignored. We have "third-world" poverty right here in the U.S. that is overlooked every day and the problems are ignored.

There's a scene in there where the editor decides to leave (insert major character here)'s murder out for space constraints. Every season just built off the previous one, and Season 5 brought it all home. Best drama ever produced.

Finished Bloodline season 1. Lot of character development, and good story. Like the setting as well. Pretty strong.

Agent Carter renewed. I enjoyed the show. Even if I didn't enjoy it, I enjoyed seeing Hayley Atwell.

I'm a big fan of all the Marvel movies but have had trouble getting interested in this and Agents of Shield. I think the lack of "superhero" is the main issue, as I really enjoyed the Daredevil series

Totally different shows. Agent Carter is about development of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agents of Shield is a vessel for the movies. First one lead to the Hydra revolt in Captain America, last alluded to Theta protocol which was the secret S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff like the helicarrier. It's also leading into inhumans. Though that's a long way away.

Mad Men finale tonight.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I haven't really enjoyed this season very much. Weiner has taken the abstractions to another level entirely.

Although I did really enjoy Glenn making a move on January Jones (who I would've ****ed even when she was a fatty).

I agree. Lots of navel-gazing and self-reference in the first few episodes of the half-season.

I didn't mind it, to be honest—both have sort of always been a feature of Mad Men, for better or worse.
