Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Looks like the Mets are also going to grab Tyler Clippard.

I thought for sure the Nats would get Clippard. I wonder if it kinda backfires on the Mets and the Nats get Chapman or Kimbrel instead.

I'd love for them to waste the prospects on Chapman.

Kimbrel would burn.

Depends on the deal. If they make a trade without Turner, Ross, or Giolito; then its possibly a good move. (Fedde, Difo, Lopez, Cole, Ward, Robles being the major parts)

Sources: #Braves floated Maybin and Uribe for Pagan and prospect some time back, but #SFGiants said no, believing Pagan better than Maybin.

#Braves, meanwhile, seem less willing to part with Maybin now. Like the way he has responded to Seitzer; $8M in ’16, $9M club opt in ’17.

Robles strikes me as a guy that the Nats would greatly regret dealing.

I like Pagan but that deal would all depend on the prospect. Really would need to be a real good haul t o move Maybin. I think he fits so well on this team moving forward.

I agree, but I'd imagine anyone giving up anything substantial would want him if they couldn't get Ross/Turner/Giolito

If they trade any of those three for a closer then they deserve what's coming to them.

Nevertheless, Kimbrel is a better buy because of his contract (and being a better pitcher).

Chapman is arbitration eligible in 16 and then a FA. I'd love to see them give up a Top 10 prospect + for that.

Would need to be a good\great prospect for that to work.

A #Braves source emphatically said that they never offered Cameron Maybin and Juan Uribe to the Giants for Angel Pagan.

Bowman adds in a follow-up tweet that source says Braves need to be "blown away" to trade Maybin.

There should be a Bull Durham set of baseball cliché's for trades: "blown away," "untouchable," "no truth at this time," "unavailable," etc. etc.

Baseball rumors in 2015: Speculation that Rajai Davis has been traded to the Cardinals because he just followed every player on the STL roster on Twitter.

Take that, fogies!

Well, that proposal definitely ticks the box beside the "blow" part.

I agree on each point. It's why I would be shocked if Kimbrel or Champman go to the Nats, I think they pick up a Jim Johnson ish type.

Makes sense. I have no idea why they would bring in a closer like Chapman/Kimbrel with Storen owning this season (or why they insisted on bringing in Soriano two years ago)

A bit of a head-scratcher to me. Davis isn't better defensively than Bourjos (or Jay for that matter), and doesn't have the bat (for me) to make you take Grichuk out of the lineup.

Grichuk's actually been pretty impressive in CF defensively himself - better than I expected anyway.

I think it terms of this year, it's because they want to "go for it" with the owner being like 90 years old (see Max). They really don't have any moves to make for position player or starters so the big splash would be a reliever. They already have too many starting pitchers and position players. Although, if I was them, I would put some thought into upgrading catcher.

I think Grichuk left last nights game injured. Might be a bad injury.

Maybe part of a larger deal? Price?

St. Louis definitely has the pieces.
