Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Maybe part of a larger deal? Price?

St. Louis definitely has the pieces.

Just doesn't seem to fit the Cardinals' MO. You'd think that if they were actually finally move a couple of high-end prospects that they'd go after Hamels and the extra control.

Given how badly we need offense and how deep we are at shortstop in the organization, any team that calls offering their best all-round OFer and/or 3B you have to listen. Simmons is an all world defender and would be great in an offense like the Cards or Dodgers where other guys can carry the offense. If we had a solid offense we would be fools to trade him, but he could bring a lot back and he is our trade piece that would bring the most back. All world defense keeps you from losing but it doesn't win games.

A #Braves source emphatically said that they never offered Cameron Maybin and Juan Uribe to the Giants for Angel Pagan.

Bowman adds in a follow-up tweet that source says Braves need to be "blown away" to trade Maybin.

I have reason to believe that this is more accurate than Rosenthal.

Yeah, it may be. It was a bit of a "non-denial denial" though. Rosenthal never said an offer was made.

Still, the FO saying that they need to be blown away to trade Maybin would seem to greatly lower the likelihood of a deadline trade. I'm not expecting any team to blow away the Braves to obtain a 1-2 WAR outfielder in what appears to be a buyer's market. He's a nice player on a club-friendly deal, but he's not the type of difference-maker that compels a team to overpay at the deadline.

Sources: #Padres & #Orioles have discussed deal to send Justin Upton to Bal. Possibly could expand it to include SD starters (Ross/Cashner)

Would be huge for Baltimore to get JUP AND a starter in the mix of this. They're not out of it yet.

And Red Sox just announced Victorino and cash to Angels for INF Josh Rutledge.

Angels view Victorino as fourth OFer. But, should be said, their third OFers haven't been all that great.

The Mets have added three decent vets without giving up anybody of note. Kudos to Alderson.

I wonder if they go after anyone else.

Yeah, I think the Mets have played the market pretty well. Have been frugal w/ talent by going after a few smaller pieces.

If the Mets can add an outfielder, they've done well.

Clippard is a good get, makes Wsh overpay for Chapman or Kimbrel now.

Baseball rumors in 2015: Speculation that Rajai Davis has been traded to the Cardinals because he just followed every player on the STL roster on Twitter.

Take that, fogies!

If they add a bat, they'll get a 1B.

Between Heyward, Holliday, Bourjos, Jay, and Grichuk they're stacked in the outfield.

They do, doesnt seem to be their MO though.

Between Wainwright, Wacha, Martinez, Lynn, Garcia, Cooney, among others they're pretty deep at SP.

Isn't the 'MO' to win?

Anyways, will be interesting to see if Wainwright makes it back for the postseason. I hope he does.

As someone who doesnt like the Cards at all, i'd rather he not.

But he'll probably return since the Cards never have anything go wrong.

ATL in listening mode re: trade proposals with vets A.J. Pierzynski, Jonny Gomes (.408 OBP vs. LHP) Jim Johnson. All on cheap 1-year deals.
