Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Sounds like Gomez to #Mets deal will be tough to consummate unless #Brewers drop their asking price.

@jcrasnick
The #Mets indeed want Carlos Gomez. Heard #Brewers are asking for a "top 4 starter" in return. You know who they are.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Braves are expected to send a young pitcher to the Dodgers who would immediately join their rotation.
That's if everything else works out in the reported deal that would send Mat Latos and Michael Morse to the Dodgers. It's still unclear what the Braves would receive in return, or who that young pitcher going the other way would be. Talks appear to be gaining steam though, so stay tuned.

Wheeler is kinda expendable with DeGrom, Harvey, Noah and Matz but still a steep price.

Gotta feeling LA flips some of these players for Hamels or Price.

They got the chips now and can keep Seager/Urias.

Just a little stroll down memory lane:

They added $56MM of another team's debt.

Gave up the 41st pick the draft.

Gave up a starter that was ranked 50-100 (I can't remember what in the preseason).

Another prospect (who I forgot the Braves traded for an International Draft slot)

1 WAR outfielder with two years control.

Damn, that was a great trade.

Sure it was a good trade. But i dont think its equivalent to a potential ace (too pitching prospect) and a top 50 prospect (starting shortstop) for 2016.

With Matt Holliday out for the season I wonder if the Cardinals are gonna make a move. I could see Justin Upton going to St.Louis.

He's out for the year?

They still have Heyward, Grichuk, and Piscotty/Bourjos/Jay, not completely terrible.

The power of $$: #Dodgers signed Hector Olivera to $62.5M deal in spring, now use him to get prospects to probably make play for Price

Sure they could get by with those outfield options, but Heyward is the only legit starter. Girchuk seems good too. But the other three are platoon type players.

They could trade for a Cespedes, Bruce, Parra, CarGo type i guess though depending what they'd give.

Don't get why Texas is on Hamels. Sure he's a great pitcher, but I don't see them catching Houston or LAA. I applaud their effort, but they aren't making the post season.
