Trade targets?

We're still a month or so from the trade market being clear. The expanded postseason still has some teams believing right now that they're still in the postseason race. The only teams I can say with confidence that will be sellers are the Marlins, A's, Rockies, Angel's, and White Sox. Could be a fire sale in Chicago. I can see Robert, Moncada, and. Crochet all being dealt. We are probably close to adding the Mets to that list. Others will follow. A team to watch is the Rays.

I dont really want to trade our best assets for this year so no big trade targets. I think what we need is a whole corner outfield platoon, a viable alternative to Arcia at SS, and a RH reliever. I would target our old friend Joc Pederson of the DBags and then Tommy Pham, Paul DeJong, and Michael Kopech of the White Sox. Maybe Erik Fedde too if the price was right. I think Pederson/Pham are both upgrades over Duvall/Kelenic. Pham doesnt even need to platoon imo but I think we would give us some options in the lineup. Late game having platoons like this can really work to our advantage with the new reliever 3 batter rule. DeJong might not be a whole lot better than Arcia but he has undoubtedly been better this year. Kopech is a big velocity reliever with good stuff who hasnt been great but I think he just gets over exposed on a team with few better options. Much like Bummer was last year for them. He has another year of team control left so there is atleast some potential benefit beyond this year. Erik Fedde I think has done enough to convince me he is legit. Went to Korea and learned a splitfinger pitch that he now uses 20% of the time. Signed 2 years 15 million contract before the year. Would be a nice cheap addition to the back end of the rotation this year and next so we dont have to rush the kiddos.

I did not. So either one is still a possibility, just not both. I would prefer Pederson but I dont think the DBags are going to sell until very late if at all.

The Sox are completely toast right now so a Pham trade would be ideal bc Duval full time is gross.

While I’m not sure Pham is the answer, I agree that Duvall is not. So an outfield bat will be one I’m sure AA will look for between now and July 30.

Orioles. They have the best farm system in the minors and most of those prospects are blocked by players just as young on their major league squad. you can nab a good young Ofer with years of control or even go after Basallo as the Braves C a of the future.

The Braves do not the prospects to make anything happen. The room being painted is getting closer and closer to the corner and it will be interesting to watch how the front office handles it. Will they keep fried or just let him walk. Could they ditch this season to an extent and try and get something for fried. How long of a leash does this team have for Harris, Ozzie, Olson, Riley and Murphy? When is the right time to blow it up, 2years, 3 years, never?? Should be interesting. But with the complete lack of talent in AAA this team is on it’s own and AA will have to spend to get going forward.

Tommy Pham could be had cheap.

I think the right move long term would be to give up on this year and start building next years team but I dont think thats the financially viable option. And I know which one the Braves will go with. Fried could net us a quality SS and/or LF prospect in the upper minors. I think a soft reset on the team would really set us up well going forward. Iglesias has been solid and still has good stats despite the warning signs we all see in his k rate. He is in that sweet spot where theoretically he fixes the closer spot for a contender this year and next year so while he is expensive at 16 million a year there isnt a long term risk associated with him. We got Minter on an expiring contract and Pierce Johnson on only a two year deal that contenders would most certainly be interested in. Maybe we could package players for a top tier prospect. Baltimore and Texas seem like good targets to sell to. All that said its not going to happen.

Thats what I said, theres no chance he does that, but I think it is the right move to make thinking strictly about future wins and losses.

I think the approach at the deadline will be measured. Anthopoulos has done a good job of making other teams overvalue our prospects, so he may be able to fool someone again. Some of the guys who he may be willing to move are Hackenberg, Maier, and Kuehler, although he'd probably want more than an expiring contract for any of those guys.

Why is that? What are they gonna do piss off the locker room? Maybe they need to be pissed off. Or pissed on. One of the two.

Pham punched Pederson because of a fantasy football trade. I would be willing to bet good money they will never play on the same team.

Pham is a douche. He hops around the league because no one can stand him.
